Disassembly video shows off nubia Z50S Pro's 35mm camera module

ZTE just announced its nubia Z50S Pro camera flagship. As other nubias (and some Axons) before it, this one features a 35mm lens – a classic in photography that you don’t see often on mobile as most phones have wider lenses.

ZTE put a lot of work into improving the optics. The 35mm lens uses one glass and six plastic elements and has a wide f/1.59 aperture. This might be difficult to picture, though, so check out this video that offers a look at the aperture in different terms.

The video shows the Z50S Pro getting disassembled and its main camera module extracted. Inside is a 1/1.49” 50MP sensor, smaller than the 1” sensors inside the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Xiaomi 13 Pro (both of which have f/1.9 apertures). The aperture on the nubia measures 5.21mm across, compared to 4.97mm and 4.10mm on the Xiaomis.

ZTE did a lot of work on the software side too with a redesigned camera UI and features. You get manual controls and can change the look and feel of your photos with 3D LUTs. The dedicated night mode has been improved too with enhancements to adaptive contrast and fixes for common issues such as ghosting.

The nubia Z50S Pro is now available for pre-order in China, starting with a 12/256GB configuration for CNY 3,700 ($515/€460/₹42,250).

A larger main camera lens could theoretically let in more light than the smaller main camera lens on the Oppo Find X6 Pro, Vivo X90 Pro+, Xiaomi 13 Ultra etc. If the glass is of high quality at letting light through. Of course it would be better...

so is this the largest entrance pupil ever existed on smartphones or there are something else bigger, like the phantom x2 pro? i checked all the previous zte smartphones camera and it seems like they all have large pupil like this one.

Price on Giztop is very reasonable for a phone of this caliber and the Brown and White variants both look incredible. Just not sure about 5G/LTE US bands compatibility.
