Fairphone 2 support ends after seven years, last update coming in March
The Fairphone 2 was released back in the distant 2015 and the Dutch company promised three to five years of major software updates and it appears that it has exceeded its initial promise. The company announced that it's pulling the plug on software support in March this year.
So far, the sustainability-focused Fairphone 2 has received five major feature updates and seven years of security updates. That's why Fairphone suggests users stop handling sensitive data with the handset because it can't guarantee up-to-date security and some critical vulnerabilities may put users' data at risk.
The company also said that it's keeping some spare parts for users who want to keep their Fairphone 2 a bit longer. However, some components, such as the bottom module, will be available only to users with valid warranties.

My Phone is one of the First FP2 and it runs like on the first day. I would never throw it away and buy a new one until it's "unrepairable". #sustanability
