Btw, having used a phone with removable, externally chargeable aftermaket batteries (of 12 000 mah, it was great) and after having replaced a few non replaceable batteries on other phones, I think the cell phone manufacturers are screwing with us badly. I don't see a reason why you should use adhesive instead of screws or clips. Just to promote consumerism? Or so people can't really switch off their phones so the intelligence agencies can eavesdrop on them? There are Faraday bags for this but who knows what twisted logic goes on in corporate heads..
Well done for the removable battery, Fairphone!

gorden, 01 Sep 2020This phone is also made in China. Capitalism is not when ... moreNot that I'm a Fairphone user but if you buy unethical items second hand, you contribute to the circle of this type of items being produced. Yes, you don't feed the big sharks directly and it is a somewhat ethical choice. If you, however, buy something alternative, you contribute to changing reality in this direction. (What you called the feeling of being green).
Also, the Fairphone has a removable battery which in itself contributes to a change in the direction of degrowth - repairing an item and using it as long as you decide.

NeonHD, 01 Sep 2020Lol. So you would rather buy today's cheap plastic ... moreThis phone is also made in China.
Capitalism is not when you design cheap phones. It could be consumerism, but you didn't mention that.
Conditions in mines are still conditions in mines. Perhaps it no longer uses child labour though.
Slightly above average wage does not make the miners equal. The labour value is extremely low for the price being charged.
Adware is not when you buy a Xiaomi or Huawei phone.
This phone charges you much for a feeling of being green. Have you thought that you could save money and help the environment by buying a second hand phone?

Anonymous, 27 Aug 2020This ain’t it at all chief. Teracube is less insulting than this Hmmm, never heard of "Teraphone".

After doing a Google search, it looks like to be a pretty decent phone.

Alex, 29 Aug 2020You dont get it, do you? With this price I can buy 3 for 15... moreNo. YOU, my friend, don't get it. Do you?

When you give your money to greedy smartphone companies like Apple Samsung and Xiaomi, you are fueling capitalism. And capitalism is the fuel for every sort of horrible thing on this earth, including destroying the environment and fueling more greediness.

When you give your money to this company, your money is being put to good practical use. You can just sit back and not worry that your money is being wasted to harm the environment or to fund useless business ventures. But clearly you probably never worry about such things.

Fairphone could give two sh!ts less about you.

Alex, 29 Aug 2020Why pay 470 plus new parts for a phone that looks like it c... moreLol.

So you would rather buy today's cheap plastic phones with the flashy color patterns and those curvy asf corners? And with one giant big a$s notch??

Sure, have fun with your play toy. This phone is for people who don't care about looks.

They are probably trying to convey with this design that looks shouldn't matter.

gorden, 31 Aug 2020Buying this does not make you green. The materials are more... moreOkay, then don't buy this phone. Maybe you should read more about what Fairphone (the company) stands for.

Like Wolfpack said, the people at Fairphone would probably encourage you to buy previous flagships, if that's what you want to do.

Alex, 29 Aug 2020Why pay 470 plus new parts for a phone that looks like it c... moreNo one on the street cares what your phone looks like.

gorden, 31 Aug 2020Buying this does not make you green. The materials are more... moreBuying a smartphone will never make you "green", nor do they claim that is the case. If you want to use an older flagship or just hold on to your existing phone, then I think the people at Fairphone will be quite happy to see you follow that line of thinking.
What they sell you is a new phone that will last you a while. Besides the repairability part, the module focused design probably makes it quite sturdy and the chipset will last you as long as you have it if you don't demand the best in mobile gaming graphics.

Buying this does not make you green. The materials are more plastic, such as the frame, which despite recycling, consumes energy. The price tags charged make this phone extremely niche, and as such, ruins its purpose in that it is not much better than buying a former 'flagship' and then using it for 3 years.

MRick, 29 Aug 2020The price is enough for me to forget about them. They could... moreClearly you are not their targeted customer. People who buy Fairphone are the kind of people who support the company's movement for fair trade and wages alongside sustainability and longevity. Show me another phone that scores 10/10 for the repairability score from iFixit. Fairphone is the sort of company that never believes with short term planned obsolescence. Heck, none of the materials are coming from companies that pay low wages, particularly involving child laborers. I would happily say that big companies like Xiaomi wouldn't dare to do such thing.

Hey, 28 Aug 2020This is unfair Poco f2 pro is fair :)Lol please, don't ever recommend any Xiaomi phones running an adware.

Grace, 30 Aug 2020Does anyone know if this phone will come with FM radio? In this holy hour I asked the same from FP, on their webpage, because there is a huge argue on the same place at topics. Nobody knows the true, it seems, but probably the chipset is let it, tha softwer not.

Why pay 470 plus new parts for a phone that looks like it came straight from 2015, both in looks and in specs? I could buy one for 100 as good as this one or grab 400 or 600 and buy a badass phone like the Nord or the Mi10 and not walk around looking like a damn idiot with a 470 phone that looks like shit

With this price I can buy 3 for 150, one much better now, one much much better after 2 years, and one much much much better after 4 years. I don't know why would I want a huge phone with huge bezels and a chip from 2016 right now, so I don't even know why would I want this shit in 2 years from now, no matter how much I upgrade it(giving more money to those scammers focused on selling way overpriced phones to the braindead environment feel better about themselves)

The price is enough for me to forget about them. They could get secondary money when selling the swappable component, but still sell the phone overprice based on spec. Unless the 470 EURO include with all the swappable component, but not gonna be environmental for that since low component will be left to dust. Wew~ that pricing isnt fair at all, can get A LOT better chipset and battery with that pricing which could be use 4-5 years. People will get bored with the same thing
