Galaxy S8 to come with an RGB AMOLED and no Home key

Hardly a day goes by without new Galaxy S8 rumors. The attention towards Samsung's next flagship is unprecedented, and its premiere is shaping to be the company's most important one to date because of the pressure after the Note7 fiasco.

We heard lots of different rumors - about the screen size and resolution, processor, camera, fingerprint, speakers. The most common specs shared between all reports are the latest Snapdragon 830 and Exynos chips, both manufactured on a 10nm process.

Today's report claims the Galaxy S8 will keep its Quad HD resolution, but will use an RGB Super AMOLED panel instead of a Diamond PenTile-based one. If true, this means there will be about 50% more subpixels, resulting in more sharpness and even better picture quality. The biggest gain will be in VR, of course, as the picture will be noticeably crisper than the one produced by the Galaxy S7 or S7 edge inside a GearVR.

There are more good news - the new panel will be made of a sturdier materials and thus make it harder to damage or break.

The new rumor doesn't confirm, nor refute, the previous information about two different models with 5.7" and 6.2" screen sizes. But it does insist on Samsung ditching the Home key and opting for a fingerprint identification placed beneath the screen, probably based on the ultrasonic biometric tech by Qualcomm.

The Galaxy S8 should be announced in February and is expected to hit the shelves in March.
