            Hi,

Just an update regarding the fix for the current software problem we are experiencing with our A10 units.

ASUS are currently working on a tool to downgrade the software on your A10 back to 3.5.7. The expected release date for this tool is early next week.

Although the fix will solve the issues we have been having, it is likely that all contact and phone information will be lost in the downgrade. I suggest running a backup using the PC Sync software which is available off the Garmin-Asus site.

            http://www.garminasus.com/en_AU/support/pcsync/

            I apologise for the delay.

            Thanks,

Also, after the upgrade to the firmware, when I go to unlock the phone (double-pressing) the touch screen isn't always responsive. This is the only instance it isn't responsive. Was fine before the upgrade. Anyone else experience this?

A few are askin about a home screen replacement. Ive paid for a lot to trial and after all that the best running one is adw.launcher and its free, give it a go. Loads of customisation options

Got the phone last week and love it. I have a Motorola Milestone XT720 too. In comparison, the A10 is much smoother in operations (no lag when switching between apps) than the Milestone XT which is suppose to be faster. I am suspecting that this is due to the double amount of memory available on the A10. With the A10, I am able to have the video recording while driving (Using the Dailyroads app) in the background, GPS in the foreground and manage to take a call without a hitch. My Milestone XT simply refuses to do all that, at least not concurrently.

As for battery life, the A10 beats the Milestone XT flat. For those who wants to have longer battery life, use Juice Defender available free on Market Place. Battery life should improve at least 1.7 times.

The only areas that the Milestone XT does better is the superior screen resolution, responsiveness of the the touch screen, gallery app and better camera with flash. Overall, in my opinion, the A10 is a superior Android phone. I saw a review on DL today on A10 and I think the person either has a different A10 phone or does not even know how to use the phone.

Hi i purchased this mobile recently.

Good : 1. Map and Navigation 2: Smooth Touch screen and speed internet. 3. avg camera
Problem:1. bad battery life 2. bad sound output via headphone 3. screen goes blank sometime on calls.

Common Asus come out with the solution of good battery life

I live in Nz and have had the A10 for nearly a week now. This is my second smartphone, the first being a Samsung I had for nearly 2 yrs running windows 6.
I chose this phone for the in built garmin GPS which works great both in the car and on foot around town.
very helpful for my business as I do alot of site visits with customers.
I use Gmail so email shortcut being in first row of apps is great although the touch screen qwerty board takes some getting use to after having a full qwerty keypad.
The browser takes some getting used as well. Not sure if this is because I'm used to windows as I struggle to return to my homepage.
love the fact I can turn off Data and use WIFI at home etc(old news to many i'm sure but is my first ph in 2 yrs)
Love the fact I can plug in my own earplugs and speakers unlike many phones.
Don't know if it's just me but when I connect with the laptop via the usb if you don't push file connect on the phone it doesn't show up in My computer(unlike my windows 6.1)
The negitives i have so far are,
1/ The camera's crap,my samsung only had a 1.3MP and the pics were better. You'd expect so much more with a 5mp so very disappointed there.I actually wonder if it has something to do with back case as you have the glass lens then the 2 or 3mm approx gap to the plastic lens cover on the back plate.it could be causing some distortion.
2/This could be just my phone but, The speaker vibrates and i find it very annoying when I'm listening up to my ear so either somethings loose in there or the speakers just crap quality. You can make it vibrate by holding the phone up to your ear and with your index finger tap the speaker lightly on the back case.
3/Listening to any audio is average if using the in built speaker, again my two yr old ph's speaker was far better quality.
4/battery life.I expected what i got and that's having to recharge it every night.
5/sometimes it lags badly when you turn the screen side on and if you go back to front on it can often stay side on.
I have experience none of the other problems some people are having and I think it is a great phone but for someone who loves Asus's laptops I think they have a lot to learn when it comes to smartphones.
Although i will learn to live with it's shortcomings I would have rathered paid more for the phone to get a good quality camera and speaker and maybe a faster processor.

Do download Trip and Waypoint Manager (popularly known as Mapsource) and use it to manipulate the waypoints on the unit and to back it up and edit them outside the device.

Download XImage to take screenshots of the device in Garmin mode to send to someone to explain a problem or solution.

Downdload Dnote POIEdit to create GPX waypoints from any seached item in Wikimapia. In wikimapia the pop-up box on a marked place has the coordinates in dd mm ss. POIEDit converts them into the dd.mmssss format usable in your Garmin.

Visit www.takitwithme.com and view the video to learn how to quickly load Waypoints from Google maps straight to your GPS within minutes and Take off.

For hiking and trekking custom maps you will need to use free versions of Geopainting GPSMapedit, cGPSMapper to create a floating Garmin map and Mapset Toolkit along with IMG2GPS or Mapsource to install to the device.

POILoader will also allow creation of custom speed alerts apart from the custom proximity alarms.

Explore the better part of Garmin. Dont be satisfied with what comes out of the box
