In reply to Navagator.
Do download Trip and Waypoint Manager (popularly known as Mapsource) and use it to manipulate the waypoints on the unit and to back it up and edit them outside the device.
Download XImage to take screenshots of the device in Garmin mode to send to someone to explain a problem or solution.
Downdload Dnote POIEdit to create GPX waypoints from any seached item in Wikimapia. In wikimapia the pop-up box on a marked place has the coordinates in dd mm ss. POIEDit converts them into the dd.mmssss format usable in your Garmin.
Visit www.takitwithme.com and view the video to learn how to quickly load Waypoints from Google maps straight to your GPS within minutes and Take off.
For hiking and trekking custom maps you will need to use free versions of Geopainting GPSMapedit, cGPSMapper to create a floating Garmin map and Mapset Toolkit along with IMG2GPS or Mapsource to install to the device.
POILoader will also allow creation of custom speed alerts apart from the custom proximity alarms.
Explore the better part of Garmin. Dont be satisfied with what comes out of the box

For those using Navionics the A10 works great esp. with its stand alone gps (offshore) If you get stuck at the 'decompressing verifying' screen and it will not finish simply do this. Exit Navionics program connect to computer (file transfer),go to SD card, open Navionics, then charts folder, unzip to same location, then delete .zip. You may need be uninstall program and re-install (it will NOT download the charts again unless a chart update is needed)

Anonymous, 21 Oct 2010just wondering how you got the navtronics marine map to ful... moreshould work ok, just make sure your screen doesn't time out between download & instal. ( kept touching the screen etc.) also use wifi & your home broadband as your phones data plan will likely take a big dollar hit with the size of navionics charts.

This is a very good phone and navigation device that does exactly what the manufacturer says, and I really like it, ....in fact I think it is better than my previous iphone in that reception is much improved and screen is very clear.
Have not found any bugs with it, only the 'wake up' button is a bit fiddly. Construction is first class ....certainly better than any phone I have had to date.

I think it is the other way round. Just a couple of people have issues and most really like this phone. I think the A10 is awesome and for the $$ is the best phone out there. I also use Marine Navigation on mine (Navionics) and it works perfectly out of range of any Carrier with its stand alone GPS. (assisted GPS, Aided GPS and Stand alone GPS)

john, 09 Oct 2010i would like to know which one is better between the garmin... moreIt all depends on whether you like android or i/os. phones these days are all the same. Its all about which operating system you like. For me, i will choose the A10 for its cost, android o/s and Garmin GPS

Got mine on an Optus $29 a month plan with 200mb of data included. I was hoping it would make my Ipod touch redundant and I could put all my music and stuff onto it. I have a 32G SD in it so storage is not a problem. I just don't like the layout for the music and I don't know how to make my own directories for podcasts, etc. Everything is in one directory on the screen, all in alpha order.
Another annoying thing...the volume is set too low on max. I like really loud music sometimes but you just can't get it on this phone. I know there is a thing out there called Audio Hack but I have not been able to get it to work. My phone is "rooted". That was easy. The GPS works well, although "fastest" route takes you weird ways sometimes (or tries to..I ignore it).
