I have bought this device on January 2014 with 4.2 Jelly bean in it , got 4.4.2 Kitkat Update last month.
You have to update it manually (not over air)
Battery is awesome, so does the features. i have dropped it a couple of times. Still it has no issues.

Odinaka my Frnd who is using it sent me a screenshot he is based in jos Nigeria.... And why do u think some m2 has official updates and others like mine does nt............. This is an advice to gionee pls include fast charge app odex to the os to the gionee m2 in the kitkat because charging this phone to 100% takes time .....
Is there a way to uninstall whatsapp in this phone because am a whatsapp+ user...

Dont buy this Gionee M2.. often gets hanged and create lot's problem in accessing. Worst product ever i noticed in my life time !!!!

i just have bought gionee-m2--marathon,
it is one of the fantastic phone , my uses are too high since handling a large team , though its battery lasts for two days ,
all functions works well ---camera quality is not so good but for working people camera does not worth so important , if i need to give marks than 8/10 , happy and full satisfied so far

Gionee m2 has two types 4gb inbuilt with 1gb ram and 8gb inbuilt with 2gb ram the 8 GB ram once receives update official 4.4.2 while the 4gb doesn't which will require u to install manually u will get bodies on utube..
The processor is better than snapdragon by far whenit comes to heavy games
The battery backup is superb
CCameras is awesome
Flashlight geez is awesome
Easy to root this phone
Its better than tecno and infinix zero from my experience....
