The only recommendation I can offer is the following if you have not completed this step on your own.
In phone go to more... Then call settings, then advanced settings, then update database of areas. Since I do not have thus problem in USA I cannot test it. Otherwise discuss with the seller/retailer or gioneee customer care.

My interest is in gionee m2017 is with regard to the role of Chinese app markets and google mobile services. Country code issues are either SIM card/ carrier related or company hardware features and policies. If your device is not recognizing the country code it is not something google contacts can fix.

In the USA I have no problem with my carrier or country code using the gionee m2017.

Two issues with my Gionee M2017:
I am yet to be able to register with Gionee Member Centre or AmiClone. Each time I attempt to do so, it will tell me that my SIM Nó oa not recognised or valid and it may be due to the fact that o the only permitted region of operation for Gionee M2017 is limited yo China. This brings me to the second question, which ia

What I mean is this: a number is saved in my Gmail contacts as +c with the name Ben Ben. Locally, that number is 07052256488. Now when a call comes in from 07052256488, GIONEE M2017 is not able to display Ben Ben. Same goes for any sms received from 07052256488; only displays the number without the name. In other words it views the entries +2347052256488 and 07052256488 as different numbers. Is there a way I could make it recognize country codes?

If you long press on the border of the search field for example an x will appear. You can tap on it and it will be removed/deleted from the home screen.

Make sure in gmail, google contacts under app permissions it is designated always allow for read messages contacts and location. Also do the same for read messages, contacts and location for google account manager, google services framework, google contact sync,google play services and google play store where granted.
