Google outs limited edition Jeff Koons live cases for the Nexus 5X and 6P

Vlad, 10 May, 2016

Last month Google launched live cases for the Nexus 5X and 6P, letting you custom design them to better fit your personality and tastes. And today the search giant is back with a limited edition run of live cases designed by world-renowned artist Jeff Koons.

Three models are up for grabs, all of them portrayed below on a Nexus 6P. They feature sculptures inspired by Koons' Gazing Ball series, and each case is individually numbered.

As with all live cases, you will also get a live wallpaper to match. For the Jeff Koons cases, we're talking about his first ever live-action video artwork, called the Gazing Ball Ballet. If you double tap the screen the dancers will come to life, recreating 28 moments from the Swan Lake ballet. And each day, your wallpaper will be updated with a new vignette.

If you buy one of these, you will receive exclusive Koons-designed artwork directly on your phone through the Live Case Editions app. This will include digital art as well as Jeff's favorite art shows or discoveries. The shortcut button on the back of the case can be customized to show museums around you, open the digital art collection, or one of your favorite apps.

The Jeff Koons limited edition live cases for the Nexus 5X and 6P are available now from the Google Store in the US and each one costs $40.

Would be good to spend more time fixing Hangouts and other things than doing stuff like this. 99.99% of people won't care about this at all.
