Hello, I'm from the US. I've purchased multiple original Pixel devices for friends and family. I think this phone is great to use in 2019. You can pickup this phone on ebay used for around $100 for the 128GB. For those who purchase used phones, do yourself a favor and purchase a new battery and take it to a local repair shop for them to replace. Ensure that the battery you purchase is a newly manufactured battery (the manufactured date is on the battery). Slap on a case and you're good to go!

This phone will get Android Q as it's last software update.

Lastly, the camera on here DOES support portrait mode, but you have to sideload it. I recommend Googling Arnova's Advanced to bring up a Google Camera Port developer page. Arnova is a developer who tweaks the Google camera software to unlock certain features. Download the latest version of the app (look for the one with the most current date). This camera app will have portrait mode and other software enhancements that the developers have been able unlock on the Pixel.

Ultimately, you can get a really good phone for a cheap price and enhance it with minor modifications. For people in developing/emerging market countries, this is a much better buy than getting an LG/BLU/Samsung phone. It's much more affordable and you'll get good value for what you're buying.

                Great phones however some suggestions:

                1. The Screen will scratch if you even look at it, so that needs to be improved.
                2. Insufficient RAM - causes the device to freeze.
                3. Related to above, No (or not enough ) quality testing performed on the device. I've had two go bad on me.
                4. Regardless of what other say, Keep the notch, however provide more options to do things like adjust notch size (large or standard) remove the notch altogether, extend the screen to the top of the display or leave some bezel space at the top with icons only in that bezel area.
                5. The device needs a better faster processor (especially considering the price). You can use the current processer on the "a" model.

The phone stopped turning on after 1 year, still on warranty. Google sent me a refurbished replacement and that one never turned on either. What a joke, $1000 rip off

I used to be a fan of all things Google and now I am so disappointed.

Solid phone, up till the WiFi started to give up. As I cannot do updates over 4G, due to data limits, my Pixel sadly enough became near useless. Repair firm said it was a faulty motherboard and the cost to repair would far outweigh the benefit.

I still think the Google Pixel was the best phone I had so far.

Like a lot of people I am sure there are those who are interested in how the original Pixel currently runs in 2019 (I certainly did extensive research my purchase). I have always been interested in getting the original model, mainly because of its size (I'm not a fan of big phones), but also because it still has the headphone jack (my last phone was the Huawei Nova).

I purchased a second hand product which was advertised as rarely used (previous owner had it for test purposes) and was very happy with its condition. I have now been using it extensively for a over a month and I hope to provide my personal insights into how it currently operates.

The main positives are that it runs very fast. Apps are quick to load, almost zero lag. My Nova was fast but the difference with stock Android is incomparable. The clean interface and lack of bloatware has always been a selling point for me. This phone is still getting updates, including the Nightsight mode which works very well. Like everything else, taking pics is very speedy and easy to use.

For the disadvantages, there are several niggles which I wish it did not have but it is nowhere near enough to cause problems. The first is that 32GB is quite a small capacity, especially with the phone getting regular updates. If you are a heavy user, you may struggle. I am a fairly moderate user and videos/photos take up most of my space. There is the option to use the cloud storage (I believe this model is the only one that offers unlimited capacity). Coming from my last phone that included 32GB plus the option for a micro SD card, it took some adjustments and sacrifices.

The battery life is also relatively short in comparison to newer phones. This was the main issue I have with this since my last phone was able to carry on for very long time from a single charge. The battery adjusting software I do not think is that effective, your best bet is to disable the apps which you do not use or need (some cannot be uninstalled). However, I think this is just a simple case of expectations. It can still run a full day quite easily but again it depends on your usage.

I have heard stories of defect models where the mic doesn't work. This isn't the case for mine and I have had no problems with making calls etc.

If the issues that I have mentioned above were eliminated, this would be the perfect phone and I feel that I can use this for a long time. Given it was released in 2016, if you can pick this up at a bargain price I think you will get a lot of enjoyment from this first model. Big thumbs up from me!

Best and worst phone I have ever bought, all the brilliant little things that it automatically does is amazing, so much better and more useful and surprising than all of the Iphones I owed before, I will never buy an apple product again. However, the most important thing I want to use my phone for is music, and thank god I don't have to settle for itunes anymore. The Pixel can deliver amazing sound, but I bought the pixel buds, big mistake, they rely on their awful battery life and the Pixel's totally awful bluetooth! when they do connect they last for less than an hour. So back to wired, but the usb-c is dodgy a F!, it decides, all on it's own, when laid flat on a table top, no tension on the wire, and it will decide to skip back or forward songs. Try to walk down the street with the phone in your jeans pocket and you will give up trying to listen to anything within 100 meters! It really is that bad. If you are looking for a phone to use as just a phone that as a side line will tell you when the next bus will arrive at the bus stop you are walking past with no intention of catching a bus, then this phone is for you. If you like listening to music on your phone, do not buy a pixel, get a phone with a proper headphone jack! And to Google, just fix the headphone problem and you may have a phone for 2019 here!
