What on earth is wrong with Google? Just about every other phone manufacturer has released a phone in the past 6 months... DURING COVID. This is not a supply chain issue, this is just ... I don't even know. Perhaps just indifference.

I already used Pixel 2 and it is one of the best smartphone at that time now Pixel 4a with a good design and my wish list is..
1 RAM should be minimum 6 gb for pubg
2 please Google provide 128 GB rom version
3 Squeeze sensor for Google Assistant not double tap on back
4 Samsung AMOLED
5 IP rating minimum Ip67
6 Pixel 2 battery is best at least provide 3000 mah
7 weight should be around 145 gm like P2
8 please provide updated super resolution zoom like Pixel 3
9 night mode 2.0
10 back panel should be glass or minimum double tone finishing like Pixel 2
11 Processor should be support giga bite LTE like Pixel 2 or 3 for fast web surfing
12 3.5 mm jack
13 Double bottom stereo speakers
If these specifications you provide in your phone then it will be closed to a perfect smartphone on the earth.

Base variant may come with 2GB RAM and without front and back cameras and charger. - price $349. 5G version to come with 4GB RAM and charger and will be priced at $449. Actually.one of the comments makes sense - Google makes alot more money selling it's OS to hardware manufacturers, so it makes no business case to invest in making competitive devices which may eat into their partners businesses.

blaqqcat, 17 Jul 2020Absolute idiots going for IPS instead of AMOLED. I cannot a... more1st of all - AMOLED displays are suffering on burn-in. try to play for hours some game with permanent background (e.g. nonogram or sudoku) and you'll observe strange shadows on the display.
2nd concern: please note, that high-res displays (like Full-HD or higher) are drawing much more current from battery causing shorter battery life. I have now a Xiaomi Mi A3 with "only" HD display (my previous mobile was Nexus 5x) and the difference between battery life is more than noticeable

Absolute idiots going for IPS instead of AMOLED. I cannot and i will not buy another IPS phone. I can't for the life of mine understand theese decisions: Mi A3 going for HD display (Mi A2 had FullHD), Pixel 4a for IPS (3a had Amoled)... Absolute idiots wich deserve to not sell anything and go bankrupt.

Put in a Snapdragon 730G. Regular Snapdragon 730 isn't that much better than 670. Also keep the price at the 400€ range. Then the phone is more competitive compared to other offerings around it. That means it's more likely to sell good numbers.

As far as I know, it will be 6gbs of RAM, that is what it should be. Less won't be good.

Pixel 4a may come with 2GB RAM, Wich should be enough for daily tasks. 5G version to come with 4GB RAM which should be more than sufficient considering there will be no primary cameras to power.
