In regards to the Xiaomi phones, I'm not trying to get a phone that MIGHT work with my carrier. Also, those phones are a bit big for my liking. I like smaller phones and even the 4a 5G is getting close to my cut off point. Software is also pretty important to me. I have no doubt that those are good phones but they just don't seem to tick the right boxes for me. Thanks for the suggestions though.

If it were not for the brilliant software optimisation of the camera, a phone with these specs would sell for less than $300 or Rs20,000. When other companies catch up on the software optimisation the Pixel will be forced to catch up on the hardware.

There are plenty of sub-$500 phones out there with much better specs (e.g., Poco F2 Pro @ ~$400 w/ SD865, UFS 3.1 & WiFi 6). The only reason to buy a Pixel is for the fast OS updates and Google's computational photography (if that matters to you). Tl;dr, this phone is an overpriced piece of trash if not for the software.

This phone should be $400. They are saving on the display (60hz) the camera (12mp) and the build (gorilla glass 3, plastic body, back fingerprint sensor). They are not providing even the minimum water protection - some cheap seals and filters - no need certification. And yet want to sell it at this ridiculous price. The only thing going for it is the software optimisation of the camera which is brilliant.

Why they are making such low quality phones and saying premium?? Samsung is atleast provide better functions and features for what we pay. Google is sometimes too much eager to make money. Even Huawei is working for their own is.

mscottdemarco, 01 Oct 2020So the Pixel 4 XL is still better mostly (processor, alumin... moreI mean the 4a 5G is still cheaper than a used 4XL, it will get updates for a longer period of time, it has a better battery, the processor is more efficient so the phone will ultimately last longer, and the base version of the 4XL comes with 64GB of storage compared to 128 on the 4a 5G. I will say I would prefer gorilla glass 5 but the face id is personal preference but it also adds to the bezel size.

So the Pixel 4 XL is still better mostly (processor, aluminum case, gorilla glass 5, face id), but this phone will shoot better video (240fps) than that one. got it!
