Anonymous, 07 Oct 2020I'm really happy with the choices made by Google here.... moreMore powerful processors don't use more energy. They are, in fact, often more energy efficient. This is because they can ramp up, complete a task very quickly, and then drop back to low energy idle. In contrast, a less powerful processor when it ramps up will take longer to complete the same task, using more energy, before it drops back down to idle.

Dave, 06 Oct 2020128gb storage with no expandable slot is a joke, especially... moreSD card it’s something from the past something from Nokia era. Agree with you about 128GB for $700 it’s and dated Soc it should be 256GB at least.

I'm not saying this is a bad phone, but the only thing that kills it is the price and the fact that you can get the 4a for half the price and with not significant differences

          aliminium frame and back
lightweight compact design with ip68 rating
clean UI and custom rom possibilities
this or the xl version will be my next phone I guess

I have a feeling that you are the guy that thinks that when Apple introduces a old ass feature thinks it's the greatest innovation made in California (even if it was already available on Android phones for years).

So this will have a slower processor than the Pixel 3XL on paper. Will it actually run slower or will the extra RAM help?

I'm really happy with the choices made by Google here.

765G with 1080p Amoled Screen and 4000mAh battery is a great balance between battery life and performances.
Why should we need a 8xx Snapdragon which will drain battery faster for a gain of performances we won't need, especially with Google software optimizations for the hardware ?

Aluminum construction + wireless charging is also great.

The thing about this phone is the Galaxy S20 5G is the same price, $700, but has so many more features. It has a top of the line Snapdragon 865 chipset. It has a much more up to date camera sensor, plus a zoom lense and an ultrawide lens. It also has stereo speakers. It has an sd card slot. It has a higher resolution screen, which is also AMOLED and with 120hz refresh rate. It's as good or better in every way. And Samsung is now promising three years of security updates, so the one thing that differentiated Pixel phones from all other phones is no longer true. On top of all that, the S20 has been out since March, so Google is not even as good as six month old phones.

I just don't get what Google is thinking. People are defending the $700 price tag as somehow what midrange phones cost now. But the S20 proves you can have an entirely flagship phone for the same price.

Either Google needs to at least have the flagship Snapdragon 865 chipset and an updated main camera module (not literally the same one from three years ago) or they need to undercut phones like the S20 on price. If this phone was $500 it would make sense. But charging flagship prices for a extremely midrange phone is nonsense.

so, it's a flagship device with midrange specs...
seems to be the new thing as oneplus did with the nord.
