I am thinking of buying USED Pixel 5 or Pixel 5a 5g. I have heard Pixel 5a has overheating and dead motherboard issues. Yet it is one year younger than the 5, larger battery. and longer update period. Pixel 5 is more handy with a 90 Hz display. What do you recommend? Is buying a Pixel 5a is risky??
There is no official warranty from Google for my country. Does the motherboard issues too common for Pixel 5a 5G??

I bought a used pixel 5 running on the 5th Nov,2022 security patch. Before I update, I need to know if anyone is facing any kind of problems with their pixels by taking the latest security update. Thank u

Love Google Pixel, 03 Jun 2023google pixel 5 great phone The display on the Pixel is smaller (6'' vs 6.34'') and it supports 90 Hz refresh rate, but it's battery is smaller (4080 vs 4680 mAh) and Pixel 5a will get software updates at least till August 2024 while the Pixel 5 will last only till November 2023.
Also the Pixel 5 has unlimited google photos cloud storage while the 5a doesn't.
It depends on your needs and priorities, but to me the 5a is the better phone.

Although the Google pixel 5 is outdated by 2023 standards, to date it's still Google's best smartphone because it's Google's last Qualcomm SoC powered smartphone. After that, Google pixel's 6 and 7 went downwards when using their custom in-house SoC tensor which has had many issues and flaws. What Google should have done was to have stayed with Qualcomm since the snapdragon SoC 765G on my pixel 5 still runs good and is reliable with none of the flaws and issues the tensor SoC has had.

I think that most of Android chips aren't as efficient as of Apple's that battery doesn't last.
Of course, Apple invested a lot of money for their own chip.
That being said, even though I tried to get used of big phones, I still can't fully feel comfortable, especially when compared with phone of this size.

So in order to consider purchasing it, the price must be really good, first of all; then if we are lucky, the batter also may be in good condition.

The price of 2nd hand looks attractive enough now.
I'm waiting to see if there will be any more best valued phone from poco (with custom rom availability), so far I haven't found one after poco x3 nfc.
Therefore, there's a chance that I may grab this phone as for secondary device.

So this phone has a mainly plastic back panel with a little mixture of aluminium elements, and yet it has wireless charging? Why are we still having glass as back panel on smartphones? It's still pretty much useless, especially when you accidentally dropped it.
