Rao, 29 Jul 2021Which phone are you using and how did you do it? With the Pixel 4XL. (Done at your own risk) Firstly, problems start to creep into the software as you update the phone on a monthly basis and install / uninstall programs. So about once a year I will copy everything on the internal memory to the computer and then shut the phone off and hold the volume down and power button so I can go into the options and clear the temp files and sideload the latest firmware. Then from those same options I will reset the device and restart it. When the cell goes into Android I will put in my email and not use a Google backup. Then I finish setting the phone up and if I get an option to not install programs, I will not install what I do not need. At some point here I will recopy the files from the computer to the internal memory. Finishing that I will go into Google Play and update everything there. When that is done I will go into settings / apps / show all, and start disabling or uninstall anything that I do not need (if unsure leave it as disabling the wrong thing will cause massive problems with the software / phone). Then in setting I will change it so I have the arrow / circle / square at the bottom so when I am finished with a program I can touch the square and either swipe it up or sideways to close it so I can cut down on the memory being used to conserve the battery. In the settings I will shut off motion sense, music search, turn off use of 90 HZ refresh rate and put the phone into system wide dark mode. If you do not use the phone at night and if you still have the option you can set the phone to shut off at night and restart in in the morning, but just understand that if you have an alarm set, it will not go off if the phone is turned off. I think that is about it.

kgbkid, 02 Aug 2021Isn't there an option to make these phones smaller ?! ... moreThe Pixel 5 is a "small" phone. You get the option every "other" generation. I went from a Pixel 2 XL (big) to a Pixel 5 (smaller) and it's been great!

Why must it be one-size fits all? They easily have the technology for both.

Isn't there an option to make these phones smaller ?! What is happening to people with this grandiosity? You have TVs at home. You need something compact for your pockets, that's why it's called "mobile". Dumb civilization ...

Nickolas, 30 Jul 2021This phone will be launched in the $749-849 range. The 2 was released at $749 for the 128GB version, so it's not much of an increase (especially considering 4 years of inflation.

I hope they go for a higher res panel some day. I mean I'm very happy with the basic colors, but the old nexus 6p just had greater detail than the new pixel phones. period
