Definitely a awesome phone for a midrange device. All day battery, in house top tier chip, all the Google smart features like call screening and a great feel in the hand. I traded in my old pixel 4a ($300 trade in) and got a free pair of pixel a-series buds all for $158 after taxes and trade in.

This is an amazing deal if you do the pre order trade in deal they have. If you have a 4a and want to upgrade you can get this phone + pixel buds for trade in plus $150

Google should stop making midrange phones. Reports of overheating and a bunch of issues as what i expected since the same issues was present on pixel 6. Tensor chipset with two cortex x core. Fingerprint sensor issues. All these packed with horrible and outdated hardware. What a joke of a phone

What a joke this phone is. overpriced piece of google shit. it's just the camera that is saving this device and maybe the software. much much better options available at this price point.

big security issue with the fingerprint sensor. Pixel 6a's fingerprint scanner unlocking with unregistered fingerprints. As shown in some videos, the Pixel 6a allows anyone to unlock the phone, even if they're not registered in your phone.

I don't get it, the 4a spec is about the same, only smaller (huge advantage), with a solid chip, weight less and better display.
2 years past and this is what they came with?
                    I'm surely missing something.

well, lets hope the fingerprint scanner unlocking with random people's thumb is a software issue that can get a hotfix. go back to fingerprint scanner on the back google. 6 series fingerprint scanner is a mess.

Man this phone is a bummer. I was definitely expecting more. Their "a" series has surely fallen back. They made a decent start with Pixel 3a, but since then, there's not much to offer. Currently, using Pixel 3. It looks like it is still a good deal than 6a. Sure, there are few hangs but it is still doing a great job for day to day phone with a then flagship SoC, SD845 with IP68 rating and lol, the same camera with a front wide angle. So will be sticking to it.

Being a pixel fan for long, they aren't offering a lot. Problems such as screen finger print sensor buggy, 60hz display, in 2022, this is a serious concern. May be this approach will help them increase Pixel 6 sales.

I'll do no longer buy a phone from a manufacturer who isn't the OS maintainer.

I'm sick tired of brands selling products they don't care 6 months later or brands stoping their mobile activities (hello LG) without unlock solution.
I'm sick tired of brands daring release unfinished phones (hello xiaomi) at a point where I prefer to buy another phone instead of using its (under warranty) sh*t any longer.

iPhone SE 2022 is a joke compared to pixel 6a.
                              Same budget, so... choice done.

Shame they dropped the headphone jack, that was one of the few reasons I considered the budget Pixels a decent option.

Worst phone ever. No headphone jack, archaic main camera, no microsd card and just noticed that not even 256gb option. Can it get any worse? How could people defend the mere existence of this device, let alone buying it???

                                        • 25 Jul 2022

So it's a pixel 2 in 2022 but with almost the exact same hardware except using a fundamentally broken SoC that will never be able to get fixed (my old pixel 6 pro just got worse and worse, breaking its own ultra wide cam and people couldn't hear me on calls by the end).

Samsung made SoCs/chips and GPU's (manufacturing for Nvidia) are all power hungry, inefficient overheating products and tensor is no different, it's literally about 2 years behind everyone else, has to constantly run the X cores to keep up with everyday performance so it runs warm doing nothing most of the time.

This is a maybe £200 phone but selling for £400, it's trying to be an iPhone SE 2022 but on an operating system that have far better companies giving you far better phones for equal or less money, apple can get away with it on its own ecosystem and OS.

£400 gets you usually 90-120hz screen with 8gb ram.
                                        Up to 256gb storage.
Double the speed charging and an actual charger.
Generally a camera from at least the 2020's.
A Snapdragon 778g or even an 870, 888 or equivalent that actually all work and aren't broken buggy messes. (It got me an oppo find X5, it wipes the floor with my old pixel 6 pro so wonder what it'll be like against this sorry excuse of a device).

Google should quit making phones now or fully focus on mid range like the pixel 5 because it's just a downward trend and has been for years now since the pixel 4 (the pixel experience is nothing to shout about and isn't the best that android can show you, that's a problem).
