4800 battery size would be great but what makes GSM think the battery is going to be so big? Other sources are saying no details on battery available and how will google be able to fit such a size in? it would have a far bigger battery than ANY other 6.2"

ElioX, 07 Dec 2021Buggy vs Laggy Buggy is Poco, Xiaomi, Realme and etc UI ... moreMy needs are less about the number of updates but rather just the smoothness of the ui. I have both Pixel 3a and S10 and comparing them, S10 is fluid, but I'd say Pixel has snappier animations. If the Pixel 6a turns out to have 90Hz, then I will get it. *Fingers crossed*

RandyRiffin, 08 Dec 2021Anyways, my point is that even if Google Pixel phones offer... moreNokia has very slow updates. Check their phones.
There is your lever:
- Xiaomi with cheap but fully packed with high refresh and fast charging but bloated and buggy firmware with apparent proofs to send information to Chinese services + very slow updates
- Samsung with very expensive price and high refresh but slow charging + the inability to revert after rooting + OneUI + slower updates than Google
- Nokia with mid range devices with midrange prices but no developing allowed + very slow updates (glacial) + no high refresh + no fast charging
- Google with mid-high prices with a very stable update schedule and trustworthy history (they updated even midrange A series as they advertised) with ability to root and revert back but no high refresh and no 33W+ charging
Write cons and pros for all devices and manufacturers and make your decision. For last 3 years Google was my best decision and I haven't even thought back once.

RandyRiffin, 08 Dec 2021Ok, let's go all for your opinion. Why not get a Nokia... moreNo faster charge and no high refresh screen. I switched my pixel 6 to 60Hz (I got it in my mail yesterday). And I always use a slow charger (1 or 2A with 5V) when I charge at night.
But my main problem with Nokia is that they do NOT allow rooting and OEM unlocking. This is serious for me. You should have a chance to do that if you want.
For example, I already unlocked OEM and rooted my Pixel 3A XL. And I can VERY EASILY switch it back to stock firmware by resetting the phone and there will be NO residual stuff that can show I rooted this phone ever. This is the issue I have with all Samsung devices as well. Samsung has KNOX security. It is 0x0 normally, but once you unlock OEM and root phone it switches to 0x1. And this is visible when you switch to download mode (power off, then press power and vol- buttons to enter download mode). And there is NO way to trigger it back to 0x0. This means once you root a Samsung phone there is no way to switch it back to the non-root stage (e.g. for selling purposes).
That is why I don't like Nokia and Samsung phones. In addition to all the Chinese brands, which I mentioned in my previous post. All in all, there is only one true trustworthy company left with Android phones - Google. And this is my point as an android developer/modder.

ElioX, 06 Dec 2021My brother has Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC, my mother has Xiaomi Poc... moreAnyways, my point is that even if Google Pixel phones offer superior experiences, honestly you can't appreciate them as a company, as they do not TRY as hard as Xiaomi to pack the features. Next time you look at a Pixel specsheet and you see a 60Hz display, don't be glad that you still get bloat-free software, be sad that you can't get bloat-free software AND that good 120Hz refresh rate and 66W fast charging... that you "can't have your cake and eat it".

Why not get a Nokia phone, it has the most up to date, most cleanest software you can think of, with none of the bugs you just mentioned. But tell me right in front of my face now, don't you wish it charged a bit faster, or had faster refresh rate?

ElioX, 07 Dec 2021Buggy vs Laggy
Buggy is Poco, Xiaomi, Realme and etc UI ... moreSamsung's update policies have improved though. They have become much more transparent about the updates.
The old Samsung was horrendous. Even now I prefer Google over the new Samsung but there is no denying that they're much better than before.
I don't recommend any of the lower end A series models, and absolutely tell people to avoid the M & F series Samsung phones. But the upper end A series models, the S series and the Z series are well taken care of.
I personally prefer Google myself but again, if I had to award the #2 spot to an OEM then it'd have to be Samsung. No one comes even remotely close, they seem to have improved massively over the years. Hopefully with the mRDNA based Exynos 2200 they can do much better.

RandyRiffin, 07 Dec 2021Thus I'm put in a conundrum. Should I buy 60Hz with sm... moreBuggy vs Laggy
Buggy is Poco, Xiaomi, Realme and etc UI and systems.
I wouldn't call OneUI buggy. And it is not as laggy as before, but still, it is Samsung. Not that far away they used to put ads in their own apps. And they still insist on NOT updating midrange devices as their flagships. Most of their low-range devices do not even get one android version update. What I like in Google is that they kept their promise of 3 android versions and 3 years of security updates in their phones. I can trust them. I lost my trust to Samsung when my FLAGSHIP galaxy note 3 got ONLY one android version update, from KitKat 4.4 to Lollipop 5.0. This hurt me a lot, even though I loved that device to my bones.
So, pick yourself. Do you believe Samsung midrange device will get as much updates as a Google device? And since we know it will be powered by Tensor, we also know Google promises 5 year security and 3 android version updates to Tensor powered devices.

Tensor isn't perfect but I welcome the change of major OEMs moving away from Qualcomm.

RandyRiffin, 05 Dec 2021 But I have finally found out what. You like phones with a ... moreMy brother has Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC, my mother has Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro and my dad had Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite (then he bought a used Samsung S10 lite and sold the mi 11 lite). All these Xiaomi phones had HUGE amounts of bugs. HUGE. You can just google "problems {device name}" and you will see how many issues these phones have. Be it their screen, or data connection, or wifi issues, or incall voice volume or phantom taps or proximity sensor or GPS issues and so and so on. These are REAL issues that DESTROY your experience with phones. Of course, you should pick up a phone that would give you a good experience and you should not be checking only benchmark results for it. Nobody mentions these issues on Poco and Mi devices because they are Chinese. Because, and I am quoting your text, they "put as MANY features as they can into a low price" and people say "well, at least it is cheap so lets not bug people about these issues".
And I am still not talking about how their firmware is closed source and how they track your actions in addition to Google's android. Which means if normally you share your data only to Google, now you share it to both Google and Chinese services that make these devices cheaper for you.
When you compare the issues I wrote above with the ones that we have in Google Pixel phones, you see how small they actually are.

RandyRiffin, 05 Dec 2021That's probably because Samsung's software is not... moreI second it. I was modding TouchWiz UI ROMs since 2014 and they are laggy as hell. Same phone same chip running a custom AOSP ROM flies like a butterfly. But then, you have the functions that only work in TouchWiz (i.e. I was working with galaxy note 3 SM N9000, and the note apps and all the S Health stuff that we brought from newer samsung phones worked only in TouchWiz, therefore most users avoided AOSP). I don't know how fluid is One UI, but from what I see on my wife's phone, it is faster than TouchWiz (though still not as fluid as Pixel Experience)
