This is the worst phone i had in my hand. I will say big fail from google. I have an UTC u11 with an amazing screen compared to this google junk .On my htc the brightness i use on the phone is sometimes on 80% (when im outside)but this is very rarely and most of the time i use it on 30-50% .
But on google pixel 7 i have to have brithness on 90-100% to be satisfied. I was shocked by this so i tried to check settings and stuff but NOTHING. I had the phone for 1 month and i dont use it anymore and im now selling it. I really miss HTC and their screens.
Dont buy this if you know your screens. What i like with it is the size and sound,but this is not enough to keep it.

    The major issue you will have to deal with the Pixel 7 series is the lack of 5G (and possibly VoLTE) for unsupported countries. The Pixel 7 series heat up more than Qualcomm snapdragon based phones, especially under heavy load (gaming, 4K video recording and possibly under heavy 5G mobile data use [no experience on this since Google intentionally disables 5G in unsupported countries]). However, the heating is likely similar to other Exynos based phones. If 5G and VoLTE is important to you and you're in an unsupported country (majority of countries outside the US), you're advised to avoid ALL Pixel phones, not just the Pixel 7 series.

I would strongly suggest you if you are camera guy , who is not a hardcover gamer . Overall smooth vanilla sw experience. You can also have a look at s21 fe and s22 it had price drop also they are vfm ! Had telephoto lens too.

        Can I get an honest opinion? I'd like to know about heat and thermal management until today? Did android 14 improved?

        O have a Motorola Edge 30 ultra but I'm considering changing for this one

The Samsung S23 series are great phones but Samsung should not have tampered moon shots by superimposing ready made crisp moon images over what one actually took with their Samsung phone. It's just plain cheating and it's glaring to anybody experienced in shooting the moon with their interchangeable lens camera and a zoom lens.

              almost anonymous, 08 Sep 2023I checked pictures on 55” mid-range Samsung TV and to my ey... moreYou need to calibrate your Samsung 55" midrange tv screen and make sure it's at least capable of 4K resolution so colors on photos or videos will be accurately represented.

              Calibrating a TV or monitor requires you to TURN OFF the 'auto contrast' or 'black enhancer' and other non-standard display modes like 'vivid mode', 'game mode', etc. to ensure standard calibration images are shown in the correct brightness, saturation, contrast and sharpness.

              The original Pixel photo files have to be transferred to a USB device or the hard disk and read or opened from there for direct display by the TV or monitor since wireless screen sharing is not recommended as it will compress and reduce the resolution and quality of the original photos.

              Anyway, if you did the tv or monitor calibration and Pixel 7 photos still look awful or bad, you may have a defective unit. Have it checked / replaced or repaired of it is under warranty.

              You may also check out these calibration test images to see if your monitor or display is at least representing all colors properly without clipping the darkest ones to black and with the brightest ones still distinguishable from each other. Bad and lower quality monitors may never be able to display all colors properly even with brightness, saturation and contast adjustments.

                Anonymous, 07 Sep 2023Ok I want you to be *really* honest. Do you *really* own an... moreI checked pictures on 55” mid-range Samsung TV and to my eye they’re still too dark and out of colours. Shadows and black eyes that do not exist are present on kid’s faces.
                Tanned faces and skins are a bit purple. Pictures are over processed by aggressive Google software.
                I can see that when watching pictures on the phone; on those where motion effect was active, for part of a second I see it being good, and then it darkens. Unfortunately, that darken one is in high resolution.
                I am doing corrections in Google Photo app, making them slightly more natural (to my eye), but on S21 and on any of phones that I previously had I accepted pictures as they were given by phone.
                Pictures on Pixel 7 are sharper than on S9 or S7, but comparing to S21 it is far behind; S21 makes them sharp and natural.
                I’ve got one person at work (don’t see her every day) that has Pixel 7 and I would ask her to compare it with my phone, probably next week: we can take pictures of the same people under the same condition…
                I’m not getting how warranty will work if I used the phone 5 months. I’ve got Google Ear buds Pro that were on offer when I purchased the phone. I used them few times.

I'm talking about the real merits of why tge Pixel 7 may beat an interchangeable lens canera in some situations, among them, high dynamic range low light scenes where a Pixel 7 can capture a scene handheld, in one tap, while with an interchangeable lens camera, you'll need to bring a tripod, do bracketed exposures, and transfer them to a desktop for exposure merging and photoediting, just so you can beat a Pixel 7! Without a tripod and a desktop PC for postprocessing, even the most expensive full frame interchangeable lens camera will NEVER be able to beat the Pixel 7's output, thanks to
                    the advances of phone processors and computational photography.

Don't take DXOmark's word for it. Even if DXOmark's scoring shows the Pixel is way ahead the Samsung, you owe it to yourself to do a shootout with both phones side by side. That way, you will really get to compare both phones om the exact same scene like I do, and come up with the same conclusion.

Read my post again and better yet, study photography because you have absolutely no idea what a high dynamic range low light scene is and what the purpose of exposure bracketing is.

                        You cannot comprehend why it is not possible for even a full frame interchangeable lens camera to capture a high dynamic range low light scene HANDHELD, without clipping highlights/shadows, while still retaining a large depth of field.

                        It can only be done with exposure bracketing, using a tripod, and then merging the bracketed images later in a photoediting software. The Pixel 7 can capture the same scene handheld in one tap. No tripod or desktop photoediting and merging frames needed. Get it?

Do you *really* own and have a Pixel 7 and the photos look as bad and awful as you described here? Have you *really* viewed photos in a really CALIBRATED 28" or bigger 4K screen or monitor? And they still look generally bad and awful overall as you described here?

                                  Then you likely have a defective Pixel 7 phone - assuming you *really* do own the phone and you *really* did view the Pixel 7 photos in a 28" or larger *calibrated* 4K display or monitor.

                                  Return it while its under warranty because your description of its output being 'bad and awful' is absolutely FAR, FAR AWAY from what most Pixel owners see. Google wouldn't possibly sell *more* units of the latest Pixel 7 phones than the previous Pixel generations if they were really as bad as you say to the majority.

                                    I've got it; don't need to buy another one to make sure I am not happy with pictures taken.
                                    When I noticed the problem, I thought I might need to adjust setting and was disappointed when I found out it is not possible, it's fully automated.
                                    Later, I searched on Internet and found threads everywhere where people discussing the problem, and also people defending Google and explaining why pictures are the best.

                                    You can find many similar threads around.
                                    Pictures taken on my Pixel 7 are bad.
                                    Sound on phone is good and crisp (better than S21), reception is good (better than on my S21 or every Samsung I had in past few years. I’ve got areas at work where I had to use WiFi calling on Samsung, and Pixel 7 I have 2 or 3 bars of 4G signal), I experienced only few lags in 5 months.
                                    What is the issue that I have with Pixel 7?
                                    Pictures are bad. I mentioned it, I explained how they look to me, and I am accused being Sami boy, person not having Pixel 7, etc.
                                    It sounds similar to Apple fans when telling to others if they’re blaming some Apple features, that they can’t afford Ferrari (Apple). I can’t afford Ferrari. I can afford Iphone. I might buy it in the future, because to me it looks that Google is following Apple path, not allowing owners to choose.
                                    I can’t change settings on my phone, Google set it.
                                    And once again, I have the phone. I don't have one single reason wasting time writing about the phone that I don't have.
                                    Pictures on my Pixel 7 are bad. Have I mentioned it?

Do you really want to do that for everyday social photography. That's why out of camera jpegs from mobile phones matter! Many mobile phones offer a RAW mode but its only for special cases when you don't have your interchangeable lens camera with you and want the best you can get with the phone by capturing raw and post-processing on your desktop PC later. No mobile phone owner does that often because its simply time consuming and deprives one the enjoyment of a social occasion by just shooting and posting.

Do a lowlight shootout among a Pixel 7, an iPhone 14 Pro Max and a Samsung S23 ultra, side by side, for several low light scenes, in your home and other scenes familiar to you. Just for once, do it, like I did, and you'll come to the same conclusion as me. The Pixel wins almost every single time if not all the time for the main camera. It only gets defeated when zooming in because it doesn't have a telephoto camera.
