I have a question for yall Pixel 7 owners. Is the battery bad? And does the Tensor G2 overheat constantly?

Anonymous, 05 Oct 2023I'm talking about pictures where people's faces, ... moreDon't have those issues at all, in my Pixel 7, even in daylight. It's the most true to life rendition Ive seen in a phone, no filters. My Samsung tends to smoothen and warm up the skin tones which is good, because it looks nicer for some people and for some races and skin colors, but it isn't as accurate as my Pixel 7. But I guess some people like better than life pictures, even if it's not true to life, so Samsung is the phone for them.

Anonymous, 05 Oct 2023S21, S9 and S7 photos ARE NOT better than the Pixel 7'... moreI'm talking about pictures where people's faces, especially kids faces, look cartoony,
they look like a paint brush had been used, or like make-up powder been spread randomly over face and neck...
I am talking about not natural colours, and lack of brightness and warmth in pictures taken by Pixel 7.
Furthermore, I see the same applies to my workmate's Pixel 7.
Night pictures are wonderful, I am more than happy with them.

Anonymous, 05 Oct 2023Got the Android 14 update a few hrs ago.Yes, I also got the OTA. So far, not much has changed. I was hoping for 5G being enabled for unsupported countries, but still no 5G. For sure the Pixel 8 /Pixel 8 Pro will behave the same way when used in an unsupported country. A $1000 phone without 5G support. At least iPhones support 5G NSA (but not 5G SA) when used in unsupported countries.
For those who need 5G SA and 5G NSA support, avoid Pixel phones at all costs.

They are far cry from the almost noise free yet detailed night sight photos from the Pixel 7. But if you want to believe otherwise, go ahead. You're probably comparing photos in your small phone screen only.

Have had the phone for a year. Mostly good experience, but am very careful about overcharging. That said, the battery has degraded more than expected and the phone commonly runs warm and the snappiness is gone. My long-term store is 6.5/10

... I would go for Samsung again.
I will try some other brands, and I don't think I will buy another Google phone in the foreseeable future.

Anonymous, 02 Oct 2023What is your workmate's phone brand. Mind telling us? ... moreI'm writing on phone, not easy to check longer post before submitting. Friend has got Google Pixel 7.
Better pictures I have had on my Samsung Galaxy S21, S9 and I would say even S7 pictures are better as they're more natural.
After many years with Samsung (I had S5 also) I wanted some change and I wanted phone with no or with less bloatware, because Samsung is putting more and more rubbish that is not possible to uninstall. Otherwise

Anonymous, 30 Sep 2023Ever heard of pixel binning? Every phone does it.Yes. It is misleading and pointless crap: more pixels to process for no reason.
With bad Google software results are pictures that are worse than 12 megapixel pictures with no processing in some midrange phone.
I compared pictures on my Pixel 7 with pictures taken with workmate, to make sure my phone is not defective. Both phones make equally crap pictures, and especially bad and unnaturally look peoples’ faces.

I have to go many years back to find what is the phone that is beaten by pixel 7.
Is 50mpx needed or not is irrelevant.
Google should not lie. It is 12.5, not 50, simple as that.

Oh my God..
You searched everything about camera being baf on Pixel 7, but you didn't check anything about quad bayer system camera.
Do it.
And then compare 48/50/56/100/108/160/200MP taken photos with the results of "just" 12 or 12.5 or 24MP.
Do it.
Just do it.

Anonymous, 26 Sep 2023Exactly. Google is bastard that ruined Internet experience ... moreWhich internet company then do you recommend that doesn't spy or make a profile of you based on the sites you visit (your interests), the articles/news you read, the photos you take a long time to watch and scroll? Do you really, honestly think there's one that doesn't profile you at all? Even iPhones do that despite Apple's rosy claims they 'care' about your privacy.

I’ve been using this phone for a week after upgrading from a 6a and I’m satisfied so far.
I wanted to stay with Google bc I’m really happy with the software experience. (Some background: I’ve owned multiple iPhones and Samsung galaxies in the past, and also an ipad pro 10.5 that I’ve been using daily for years). Android on Pixel phones is very snappy, has very few bugs and tons of small features that add up to make the whole OS really convenient to use. It feels like it was designed by people who think the same way as I do. Bonus point: the updates don’t randomly change the battery life by a noticeable margin (looking at you, Apple)
In terms of hardware, going from the 6a to the 7 isn’t like a huge upgrade. But still, here are some differences I’ve noticed:
- Gorilla Victus feels better than Gorilla 3 (fingers slide more smoothly on it)
- the brightness is much better
- quite a bit heavier in the hand. Takes some getting used to
- the cellular connexion is significantly more reliable
- 90Hz display feels a lot smoother
- the camera takes sharper images and autofocus is faster although the colors sometimes seem worse
- the microphone is better
Overall a nice experience and a nice phone, especially if you can get a used one for 200-300€.
A more efficient SOC such as the latest SD, a telephoto lens and a top of the line sensor would make this phone absolutely amazing. Hopefully Pixel 8 will get close to that
