As I wrote I predict it will crash to that price in September. Price is high for early adopter tax.
I'm actually glad that German computer media/sites like CB ripped it apart in reviews.

Invest in some WD red drives and you can have hassle free backup experience for many years...

Hence, why I wished there was a 256. But with a fair price hike like you have with the Nothing phone. That amount of storage more costs a couple of dollars, not like with Pixel 7 150 dollars more...
Also people who buy this because they can use a Google-free OS like Graphene don't then use Google Cloud ;-)

Epic failure for 490 € (price in Germany).
I can't wrap my mind who target market for this model is?
If you are into Pixel phones, and you want relatively compact phone, 6a is 324 € right now on Amazon.de, and it's constantly under 330 € since December.
If you want heavy phone, 7 is right now 530 € on Amazon.de, is regularly discounted under 550 €, and is outright much better than 7a.
So, again, who is market target for 7a?
I can see 7a price crashing after summer (at ~400 €). Look how 6a price crashed - in just 4 months it was already -100 €.

decent size and a half decent main cmos for a change, no 3.5mm means it's off my radar though. i'm not into low quality audio via wireless.

Many laptops use different types of memory. Many other laptops can still use such cards with an adapter. A car and a motorcycle are used differently. Micro SD card and ROM have different specifications for different applications.

Why have manufacturers stopped using SD cards? Simple, it's all down to money for them. If you are not happy with 128Gb storage then you will pay an extra £60 or more for 256Gb or even more for the 512Gb option. If the only option on the phone you choose is 128Gb then they hope you will subscribe to their online storage. It is the same with the headphone jack, why include one when they can charge you extra £80 for a set of buds.
