after 2 weeks with the phone, i'm very happy with it. battery lasts me the whole day without even needing to charge and the cpu makes everything snappy and fast (but keep in mind i don't play games on it, the most demanding thing i do is stream lossless music and browse the web). might be 'cause android 14 fixed some things. fingerprint sensor does suck but when you add a new fingerprint the finger's position must be very precise, i found myself not being able to open it with my thumb laying flat and straight on the screen meanwhile if i rotate it 30 degrees counter-clockwise it opens instantly. if you can find a good deal on it like i did for around 300 euros it's a no-brainer

ithehappy, 26 Nov 2023Thanks. Is there no way to reduce that abnormal standby dra... moreI think the only thing you can do to stop the standby drain is to install a custom ROM. I have installed GrapheneOS right after getting it and I have not experienced a big standby drain. I never thought in the one week I have it, that the battery drained unreasonably. I can't compare to the Google OS as I haven't used it with it installed, but I can say that the battery lasts trough the whole day and I would say I'm a heavy user atm though no gaming. Only browser, youtube, music and chatting. Since loading it up this morning I have 3.5h SOT for 48% battery. I'm not really familiar with AccuBattery yet but it states after one week that I would get 11h53m SOT with a fully charged battery. Battery life is pretty fair I would say with GrapheneOS, unlike what you hear about the standard OS.

And how much is the SoT at 90 hz? Did you check?

Anonymous, 28 Sep 2023Am about to buy this phone - worried re battery life report... moreSome people seem very happy with the phone, but my experience with 7a was a nightmare. Charging was painfully slow, 5g connectivity was a joke, signal drops in garage, internet get disconnected when I need it the most, fingerprint unlock never worked, battery was only as good as my 6 year old galaxy a3 2017.

1. How much is the overnight drain?... moreI lose about 1.5% an hour when the screen is off, so like 10% a night while I'm in bed.
Screen on time is around 9-10 hours at 60z, low brightness and WiFi no mobile data.

If you press too hard then you distort the whirls and loops of your fingerprint and get a false reading. Doing it the way I suggest opens the phone with the lightest touch.

Anonymous, 25 Sep 2023The fingerprint reader is awful, most of the time it just d... moreI am/was a dedicated Pixel fan. I replaced my old 3a with this 7a. For two weeks and many hours I tried to get the fingerprint unlock to work. It would work once or twice and then not work. I entered a new supply of fingerprints 4 times. Finally yesterday I returned it to BestBuy and paid the restocking fee. Now I'm back to my 3a until I can find a new phone. I must admit I will have to leave Google's Pixel series. How the fingerprint unlock can work so well on my four yr old 3a and not work on the new 7a is beyond me. I wouldn't use the 7a if someone gave it to me for free!

Got this phone yesterday. Great cameras and screen. Snappy. Battery life could be better, screen on time great but standby drain is an issue. Prefer it to the S23 I had before and it was a fraction of the price. High hopes for Pixel 8a.
