Greg29, 16 Jun 2023Your post is total BS, Tensor is designed by Google and has... moreTensor is manufactured by Samsung which ruined the snapdragon 888,888+ and 8 Gen 1. Their fabrication plants are horrible and chips have low yield. Tensor is still an exynos no matter what you say.

I stumbled upon a way to speed up fingerprint recognition when I experimented with the settings on my phone. Go to Settings/Sound and vibration and scroll down to Vibration and haptics and turn them OFF. Now my fingerprint is always recognised at the first attempt and the phone unlocks in a split second.

Anonymous, 12 Jun 2023Good phone to put GrapheneOS on it. I would choose pixel 6a. Much cheaper. At 500€ price point there are many better phones than pixel 7a, and on Graphene Os unfortunately you are loosing camera performance. At least with p6a it's not that big. But if you use gcam on Graphene os or other google apps it does not make big sence out of Graphene Os as google, meta, tik tok apps is super invasive. There is no point to install those if you care about your privacy and you are using Graphene Os.P7A does not seem any much better than P6A, but price difference is 200$. But if P7A will get cheaper in few months maybe it is worth. Anyway I am just considering, not recommending.

the scanner does not work in pixel 7a 4 out of 10 under glass works so terribly that it's terrible, given the fact that now all around you need a scanner in banking

And the poster you replied to bought the Samsung A54 after the Pixel, which DOES use the Exynos chip (Exynos 1380), so your post is doubly ridiculous.

Those Exynos chips were sold to Google, which rebranded them into 'Tensor' for the Pixel phones. And sold to unsuspecting customers, hoping they wouldn't notice.

Well I've bit the bullet and done away with mine after just over 3 weeks. I just couldn't see the screen outside at all even with adaptive display switched off and brightness at max. 2 minute videos were causing overheating and the battery was appalling, even after 3 weeks. The adaptive battery did nothing. It was always a toss up between this and a Galaxy A54, which I now have and it's like night and day. Ah well, cest la vie...

The A54 is far better. 120hz, bigger battery, glass on both side plus its gorilla 5.

Txindoki, 10 Jun 2023The Poco has a much worse NPU, cameras and also no USB 3.2,... moreAll that unnecessary features and the 7a still cannot handle 120hz and having sustained performance. Tensor G2 IS BASICALLY AN EXYNOS.IT IS MADE BY SAMSUNG.(Trash overheating CPUs.)

Good phone to put GrapheneOS on it.

Google should have stuck to web browsing, this phone is 1 big expensive POS! Do not buy this! More phones have better specs, better camera and cheaper price!

Anonymous, 05 Jun 2023Because it's google, 75hr endurance rating, only 128gb... moreThe Poco has a much worse NPU, cameras and also no USB 3.2, while the 7a is a lot worse for gaming. The Poco is entirely built with plastic, while this has an aluminum frame. Last but not least, as a former MIUI user I would say that software experience is a lot better, and not only on the updates side. They are very different and they target very different users. I wouldn't pay much attention to the stars, they're just the reviewer's opinion

Software updates mean... moreNormally I would agree but there are a ton of phones out there that are older than 3 years that don't receive security updates anymore and are perfectly fine. I still think if there is a huge global security issue, then it would be issued to all phones backwards regardless of OS version. The press of having to junk a phone because Google couldn't issue an update would be bad press.

JaviG84, 08 Jun 2023is the battery life really that bad? I just ordered a PIXEL... moreDepends on your expectations and usage, bro.

Since the Tensor is a rebadged Exynos, expect underwhelming performance compared to the competition.

At this point I would rather Google use Snapdragons for the flagship Pixel and Pixel Pro phones, and the newer Mediatek Dimensity chips for the cheaper 'A' variant of the Pixel phones. But it looks like Google and Samsung have made deal.
