y'all fail to realize that slower charging provides near 0 difference to charging when you charge it overnight, and PD25w will do fine in most scenarios. The Samsungs charge in 1 hour with that speed.
No matter the speed, the batteries will control the charging when it is over 80%, and at that point fast charging makes no difference.

The faster the charging the more you are stressing your battery. Phones (and their batteries) live longer with slower charging...

I have to say, it doesn't seem quite as bad as I thought it looked.
I prefer this over the 8 Pro. It's compact and the design/color is also cute, both go hand in hand. The only bad thing about this phone is the ridiculously slow charging. Otherwise I like it.
I would've nagged a bit about the price, but considering that the Pixel 7 goes for around $549-599 on Amazon (CA) now, it's likely that the P8's price will also drop a few months after.

I'm quite excited about the launch of this, though it will be interesting to see weather the rumoured dimensions are actually true.
Also no mention of the weight, but if less then 180g or so, and smaller then the 7/7a I will probably buy one, but I fear it will be closer to 200g

People love to complain about the wrong "problems". 24W wired charging is fine, but "everyone" wants race cars where they need not be. You can charge 50% of this ~4500mAh battery (~2250mAh equivalent) in a little over 20 minutes, only the rest may be slow and take up to an hour and a half in total. Blame that on the fact that a phone like this needs an enormous battery to have decent battery life, and not that the charging is "slow".
Blame it on ARM's incompetent ARMv9 core designs of the last few years, on Samsung's foundry being a generation behind TSMC (not an enormous gap as people think, tho, unless we're talking about 3nm which is an Apple-TSMC exclusive thing atm and will only matter for rich US consumers for a good while), on Google choosing Samsung as their silicon partners instead of Mediatek (who knows...), on Qualcomm having a stranglehold on every other company's progress in creating decent modems (except Apple, of course), on the bloated Android OS and its nasty (historical) Java reliance, on the Google Play layer bundled in every Android phone, on the incompetently developed apps we use (that spy on you and do all other dumb things besides just working and doing what they're seemingly supposed to, wasting your battery in the process).
Every little one of these factors will amount to an Android phone NEEDING an enormous battery, thus needing fast charging to satisfy nerds like us. Guess which one is so faster and cheaper to solve that every chinese phone maker did solve?
Google is taking the other, harder route (and failing very, very hard, at least today). Their fans (me fr!) can only hope next chip designs and fabrication will be better, but as you've seen, it's not only their problem. At least Samsung's 4LPP+ node has a few improvements (allegedly) which is great for the Tensor G3, Google plans on switching to TSMC and the cores ARM revealed this year seem more decent, which will be great for a Tensor G4 or over. Android will keep being a mess tho, that's very unfortunate.

Phauglin, 20 Sep 2023Google I am begging you, why is the charging speed so far b... moreBecause they know what they are doing. Fast charging is burning baterry and motherboard. Iphone also has slow charging. For me it not a problem, in half an hour I get more then enough power.

Google I am begging you, why is the charging speed so far behind every single competitor. This is going to be an amazing phone but this is SO embarrassing. This charging speed is on par with phones from 8 years ago. Xiaomi and others can do 10x faster charging with a tiny capacity decline.

Pixel 8 is on par with samsung and iPhone base models. The design is far superior then boring sammy and apples.

A functional desktop mode, more battery life, more RAM, and faster storage should be standard these days.
