Google Pixel 8

A few years ago I've had the Pixel 6a and 7a. I was pleasantly surprised with their decent cameras, decent performance, decent speakers and commendable battery life.
I currently have the Xiaomi 13T. It's showing it's age and i'm thinking of going back to a Pixel.
For more better camera system (for everyday photos - city or during holiday), better performance (faster & more snappier), better speakers (a bit more clarity and loudness) slightly better display (better HBM/peak brightness, more sharper) & glass protection should i go for the Pixel 8a or upgrade straight to a Pixel 8?

1.9 Turbo DIzel, 22 Nov 2024So far the smallest (But still too big...) current phone on... moreThere is no doubt that a good custom rom makes battery life better than oem but not possible for active user to make it last as long as 3 days.
At most 2.

I've had the pixel 8 for about 1 week,i thought i was having no problems..till i turned off the wifi. This phone overheats as soon as you turn on mobile data!I am geiniuinely scared to use it in the summer(in italy it can be almost 40 celsius),if you live in a really hot country do not buy this phone.

So far the smallest (But still too big...) current phone on which custom ROM can be easily installed on. And a pretty good phone, honestly...
Good computing power that easily gets along with Android obesity, battery last 'bout 3 days of my use (I mainly call, text, take photos and sometimes browse internet) and suprisingly, aside from crappy focusing (which is a problem number one since ever in majority of phones), good camera. For me 128GB is a overkill (Usage under 14GB incl. Android) as I merely use "basic" features and move photos/videos regularly to my own archive solution. No 3.5mm jack as a solid minus, tho.
And the phone itself is stout 'n' sturdy, equipped with thicker case "feels sure" in hand.
Software-wise, eh... Android is Android, but like there were any alternatives (And no, iOS is not a option as it's completely locked-down walled garden)...
However, as said before, at least custom ROM can be installed (And stock ROM is easily obtainable, so it can be easily restored to factory setup in case of something going wrong). Currently runnin' LineageOS 21, with GPlay-only soft installed via Aurora. It's still "that" Android, far from perfection, but at least bit better.
It's ironic though that [one of] best phone for de-Googled Android is a Google phone, but that's how the world we live in looks alike...

Adel J, 28 Oct 2024This one. P8 feels cheap in the hand.I think you wanted to say that 8a feels cheap, but I don't belive you because I tested them both and 8a is nicer in hand and not as slippery.
