But their software although stock really sucks. There are barely timely updates, competitive features, long waits for software updates slow software cycles with bugs of course, etc. I will gladly give up the telephoto lens and fast charging for longer support, and a battery that does not deteriorate due to fast charging. For that price, the hardware is not bad - Tensor G3, 7.5W wireless, plastic back(I prefer plastic back over glass), IP67 but it's also the software we are paying for. Something I learned is software is just as important as hardware. Pixel 8a would offer great software or good hardware for that price (500 dollar expected)

They decide to make even small bezels on 4 sides. but they need to connect the display to the motherboard via connectors and cables which requires additional space. They decide to put space in the bottom instead of the top for aesthetics. Their options are to 1. put a chin, 2. fold the display, and connect the motherboard similar to iPhones (this increases cost). Since it's a budget phone, they go for the chin. Your suggestion is to provide symmetrical bezels on top and bottom, but has certain issues: it increases phone size but offers no increases in screen size, which affects the screen-to-body ratio (companies used to compete for this ratio a few years back). It increases the cost of manufacturing. Another thing is phones like ROG, Sony tried putting phones with even bezels on top and bottom, but Ytbers criticized those phones claiming the design is old especially since those were flagships. So now companies don't give bezels on top to make the phone symmetrical to the chin on the bottom

You can see all notification badges and you can interact with them which is more functional than a notification LED. The AOD will show the app icon and if you hold that icon, it expands and shows you that notification. Also, there are Apps in PlayStore that use display pixels as notification dot. Dedicating another hardware for something that already exists along with additional software support does not make sense. Companies just need to more ergonomic AODs
