Why not add another thick bezel up there? It'll make things symmetrical, and with that added bezel you can add a LED. It's helpful since budget phones do not get these premium features like AOD.

Its more practical, costs less and you know with just a glance from afar if you need to pick up your phone and look whats happend or if you can ignore it - no such option with AOD.

Any hardware's first few generations are always gonna run with issues, lesser efficiency, driver issues, stability, and performance issues, that is how usually new products are introduced. after 3rd or 4th generation, they catch up. The same is true for Mediatrek Processors. Also, google is able to offer 7 years of Android OS updates since they can control the CPU drivers of tensor unlike snapdragon, whose drivers are controlled by Snapdragon itself limiting future updates. Soooo.... perhaps, Tensor will get better in Gen4

Unlike AOD, it cannot show multiple notifications at the same time, and cannot show any details about the nature of the notification. The hardware and software requirements don't make sense to put a dedicated notification light when AOD exists. The Nothing phone implemented it for aesthetics over functionality, but no one uses glyphs as much as AOD.

This ph... moreSure , but consider that unlike apple utilizing two different series of chipsets for buyers and literally dividing the whole market into two main buyers the less wealthy mid and the absolute riches of us ; google gives all of their buyers the same main chip weather wealthy or not and goes around to play with secondary features such as camera , battery and display . It is worth nothing that Google's phones in all price ranges except for the high-end get to become the best quality photography camera phone .

Samsung processors are certainly not the best, but the difference here is that Tensor was designed by Google. To have better control and offer support for years! (Firmware update - you don't get that with Xiaomi or Samsung).
The latest processor brings MTE is a security milestone, even Apple doesn't have that.
The biggest plus the ability to install GrapheneOS

This phone will be in competition with the Nothing 2a. Deciding factors will be camera quality, number of years of updates(still yet to be known for the pixel), price(128&256 variants) and looks (bezels vs glyphs).
