They may be running a different OS from each other, and that's up to you to choose which OS do you prefer. Unlike android, you are unable to install files such as APK on Iphones, but this shouldn't be much of a concern since most of the applications can be installed directly from the App Stores. Camera performance are top notch for both devices. Iphone screen may only be 60hz but you are not really going to notice any smoothness issue because the animations on IOS are pretty smooth. Battery on the Iphone 16, especially the 16 plus should last longer than the Pixel 9, due to IOS better optimizations, and lower screen refresh rate. Also, the haptic feedback on Iphones are next level, far better than on the Pixel 9. There should also be more accessories to choose from, such as casing, for the Iphone compared to the Pixel. Nonetheless, theres nothing wrong choose either of the smartphone. Both are great. You should check out the display units in person for both models and test them out.

It would be nice to see Google streamline their updates into a single location/action and allow granular/manual updates as an option if desired. Having to check for updates in 5 places is pretty annoying and the case on all Pixel models. In contrast, Apple has this part worked out more conveniently. The phone itself is quite nice and for the money pretty hard to beat for what it has to offer. Wasn't a fan of what they did with the Pixel 8, how they gave it the 50MP camera sensor and locked down the camera to 12PM photos. It's nice to see they've gone away from this nonsense on this model.

This phone or iPhone 16? For context, I'm not really that heavy and power hungry user. The most demanding game I'll probably play is pubg which should play great even on the pixel with high settings. I'm currently using the old redmi note 10 pro and I'm tired of this miui thing. I knew that both phone offer reliable camera and some might argue the pixel have better picture quality than the iPhone and vice versa. Again I'm not really that hungry power user that play wuthering wave for 10 hours straight at highest setting so performance isn't really a problem. I could buy the pro version of both phone but I like the colour of the base model from both company. It's also similarly price here in Malaysia. Please help me

But in some situation, you wouldn't want to stand out too much or else you are giving them too much attention.
                    You could have 2 devices-
                    1. A degoogled phone for general use
                    2. Standard android phone in case of emergency situation
Then at least, we may evade "some" tracking, not all as there are cameras everywhere and got cell carrier tracking us anywaay.

The thing is you don't wanna draw too much attention from the authority of the country either.
I'm using degoogled ROm tho it's not a complete bullet proof, it's just better somewhat.

If you live in the USA it's better to be tracked by the CCP than the CIA.
If you live in China it's better to be tracked by the CIA than by the CCP.

My opinion is that this phone is way too expensive for what it offers. I mean even a Samsung s23 is much better and better optimized.

microg may not be "Secure" but google doesn't know you meanwhile (unless you sign in to google with it).
It's almost same thing as having normal Android without G account after limiting some permission from playstore.
Therefore, I don't see Graphene being better at all, in fact, microg has more straight approach to its goal (to be private).

Sandboxed Play Services are confined using the highly restrictive untrusted_app SELinux domain, and the user can revoke permissions from Play Services as they wish. On the other hand, CalyxOS runs MicroG as a privileged application within the system_app SELinux domain, which is generally more permissive. From a security point of view, GrapheneOS seems to have a much better approach."

You get basically same thing with others if you put MicroG, in fact, MicroG is more private.
BL locking can also be done on Calyx.
I'm just saying, you can do almost same things with others, not to mention that most average people don't even need these features nor would they know how to use them.
