You don't actually need so many features like they state in order to keep your phone private and secure (most AOSP is fine to use, then you can add microg for more convenience, but once you add gapps then you are already screwed for privacy).
But to begin with, if you are that kind of person like Edward Snowden, you should never be using a phone.

I have other phone (not pixel) without SIM draining battery since battery for no reasons, and I can't figure out what's causing it.
My guess is probably there's some problem with firmware or hardware defect.

Google tracks your activities on the phone and internet connecting google codes from web.
However, if you are a high valued target such as politician / celebs/ whistleblower, then you should never used a phone.

So, I wanted to ask whether the Google Pixel 9 can do video recording of the following:
4K 30 HDR turned on & with shutter button?
4K 60 HDR turned on & with shutter button?
1080p 30 HDR turned on + shutter button?
1080p 60 HDR turned on + shutter button?
Some of these are not available on my Xiaomi 13T which i'm trying to replace (if I can) due to the Black Friday Sales.

Vin Aigre, 27 Oct 2024Is there a backdoor from gogole?Android is Linux based so I'm sure it comes with selinux which is a joint project between the NSA and redhat. It's a software backdoor similar to Intel vpro. Google it if your curious.

I bought my Pixel 9 over a month ago, the phone has started hanging up a few times and some alarm sound starting ringing at random times. At times just starts ringing when phone is idle but there is no activity or app open at that time.Anyone experiencing that issue?

Anonymous, 20 Oct 2024Why wait? You can buy a motorola for 400 and be done with it.400 euros gets you Edge 50 Neo which has camera issues or Edge 50 Fusion which has curved screen. Nah, Pixel still best option.

Currently waiting for my Pixel 8a in the mail. I would have gotten this one, but here are my top 3 reasons why I'm not.
1. They got rid of the blue version. WHY GOOGLE WHY??? 😭😭
2. I really liked the visor-bar design. And now it's a pill shaped thing. Not a big deal, but I think the bar was what made the Pixel 6-8 feel different than other phones. It looks like the 9a will just get rid of it all together. /:
3. Can I go a day without hearing about AI? Heck, the 9 series boot screen includes the little Gemini sparkle. The 8a includes some of those AI features but I don't need a phone centered around it.
Well, there you have it. Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome phone, but those reasons are just why I don't like it all too much. Hopefully by the time I'm ready to upgrade again, AI will have settled down, the blue color shall return, and Google will bring back the (in my opinion) Iconic pixel camera visor.
No seriously. The only reason I considered a Pixel is because of the camera visor. It's silly but everyone has their own values, I guess.

I had a pixel 6 and it was quite disastrous.
1. The phone overheats. After a few months, the battery got swollen and I had to replace it with a new one. Pretty hard to use the camera (especially video) for more than 15 minutes as it overheats and automatically turns off.
2. Phone calls disconnect the audio in the middle.
3. The software was sometimes buggy, manageable, but still irritating.
Does the Pixel 9 series fix these problems?
