Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold6

Not a day goes by without multiple Pixel leaks, and following an earlier one detailing the surprising Android version the Pixel 9 family will launch with, we now have another one focused on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Google's second foldable smartphone and the successor to the original Pixel Fold from last year.

This one is said to measure 155.2 x 77.1 x 10.5 mm when folded and 155.2 x 150.2 x 5.1 mm when unfolded. That makes it slightly taller, much wider, and much thinner than Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold6, its main competitor. It's also thicker than the world-record holding Honor Magic V3 which is just 9.3 mm thin when folded.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold will allegedly weigh 257g, which is significantly more than the Magic V3 (226g), Galaxy Z Fold6 (239g), and OnePlus Open (239g). That said, it's still much lighter than its predecessor which weighed a whopping 283g.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold's inner screen will be second only to the vivo X Fold3 Pro's in size, and the panel will go up to 2,700 nits of peak brightness apparently (just like its external screen).

The upcoming foldable will be offered with 256GB and 512GB of storage, but only the former version will be available in India for whatever reason. It will have 16GB of RAM and a 4,650 mAh battery which is actually smaller than the 4,821 mAh unit in the Pixel Fold.

Bigger screens and a smaller battery don't bode well for endurance, but Google will still advertise "24 hours of battery life", whatever that means. The Pro Fold will go up to 72 hours if the Extreme Battery Saver mode is engaged.

Like the rest of the Pixel 9 family, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will launch running Android 14, with an update to Android 15 arriving within a few weeks of its release.

I'm over Pixel. Not going to buy them again on principle. Storage limited to 512GB on the Fold, worse cameras than all the others in the lineup, using a G4 instead of something newer, still poor battery life and charging speeds, and corners so...

Prices for foldables are sky high + the market (us, consumers) has been willing to accept always growing prices for the smartphones, so the manufacturers are happy doing so. For me 2200 euro for the Z fold 6 is way too much. What kind of lapto...
