Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold wired charging support officially confirmed and it's disappointing

If you've been wondering why our testing revealed the fact that the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold takes a whopping one hour and 36 minutes to fully charge, the answer is quite simple - but not great news.

It turns out that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has the slowest wired charging support of all Pixel 9s. It tops out at just 21W. This unfortunate number has finally been confirmed directly by Google today.

So with that context in mind, it's no surprise that the search giant's second foldable smartphone takes so long to charge. If you're wondering why Google would pull something like this, especially when the Pixel 9 Pro XL goes up to 37W while the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro support 27W, the answer is - Google hasn't said.

To add insult to injury, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold's wireless charging only goes up to 7.5W, just like the original Fold. And in case you forgot - this is the most expensive Pixel 9, and it charges the slowest, by quite some margin, in both ways.

If you want to find out whether the rest of the device is as disappointing, don't miss our in-depth review of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, or watch our video review embedded above.
