they just put the camera on the bezel

ithehappy, 17 Mar 2025screen to body is quite good. the bezels are so thin. Most phones even in the midrange tend to be around 90%.

It's not just the bezels. The cameras have been downgraded from last generation whereas they needed to be upgraded to keep up with the times. 128GB of base storage is on the low side, many of its competitors start with 256GB for less cash. Tensor G4 is good for this price but I would imagine thermals are still an issue. The charging speed is extremely slow – any phone over 250 USD/EUR should be able to fully charge in less than an hour. Samsung's roughly 70 minute charge time is just about good enough, but this would take more than two hours to fully charge. Not good enough. Eye care is poor. Gorilla Glass 3 is suboptimal.

Admittedly the price will drop quickly, Tensor G4 is a far more refined solution than what it replaces, battery life is likely a lot better this year, IP68 is a rarity in midrangers, and 7 years of support is unheard of in this segment, but this is a poor offering.

The Honor 200, Edge 50 Pro, Edge 50 Neo, Pixel 8, and Xiaomi 14T are all better.

Bezels should be symmetrical, unlike Pixel 7A

                                      > 48 𝘔𝘗, 𝘧/1.7, 25𝘮𝘮, 1/2.0"

This is sounding a lot like the Sony IMX586, which is quite an old sensor. I wonder if it actually is the IMX586.

Kind of a downgrade from 8a which had a bigger 1/1.73" sensor.
