To staff,
Dimensions are wrong here; replace the width with the height in unfolded mode.

Good to see some other players in the foldable smartphone game? I wish Google would have been more proactive in selecting another name other than "Fold" being that Samsung has already crowned the name with their foldable? I think "Google Pixel Book" would have been a lot more fitting and original?

My only concern with Pixel Fold is the high price and if Google used a SOC from 5 hears ago like the Pixel Watch.....?

Macbeth, 11 May 2023It can't just be me who thinks that the hype over this... moreMe personally, no. This thing has been delayed/cancelled several times now, so for it to finally be announced and able to order, I'm hyped. I know there will be some growing pains with this being their first foldable, but I'm ready to go back to a Pixel.
On a Fold3 now, but I'm still one of those few who still root and unlock the bootloader, so excited for the Pixel Fold. Plus with Fi Wireless bill credit ($700) and selling the Fold3 it will offset the cost enough so it's not too ridiculous.

Still pretty small (inner) screen and a nonsensical (inner) aspect ratio. Apart from a very certain type of photos nothing else uses those square aspect ratios. Even mighty Apple went to wider aspect ratios for their tablets. ImO 1.4-1.5:1 should be the minimum for a tablet. If you can't properly use it for games and media , then what's the point of the bigger screen.
There are literally phones (non foldable ones) with almost as much of a viewing window on most content as this when unfolded.
Wake me up when they start producing foladbles with 1.5:1 (inner) aspect ratio (or somewhere around there.
Until then, me half thought. Foldables are 5 years old and barely improved in any important aspect of theirs.

I think this is more practical than the z fold. The outer screen is much wider, you can type comfortably with 2 hands. It is also thinner, have a bigger battery, and have a periscope camera. When unfolded it is roughly the same screen size and aspect ratio but landscape is the default orientation rather than portrait. While I'm not a fan of those bezels when unfolded, If Google did shrink those bezels it would've been wasted space and make the screen more square. One of my biggest pet peeves is a square screen on a foldable. I wish Samsung can make this type of foldable. I rather have a 16-18:9 outer screen than one with a 21-24:9 aspect ratio. Nothing ever looked good on Samsung 23:9 aspect ratio outer screen and it is too narrow to type comfortably with 2 hands. I can understand 21:9 but even then it is not ideal. 23:9 or whatever Samsung outer screen is, forget it! I would love if Samsung make a foldable with a 5.5 inch 16:9 outer screen that folds out to a 7.6 inch screen without those chunky bezels. Make it a little shorter so that we don't have to deal with chunky bezels or a square display when unfolded.

It can't just be me who thinks that the hype over this phone is a bit overexaggerated, right? I'm already sick and tired of seeing this phone making national and international news headlines, and just can't wait till the hype over this phone dies down (whenever that happens to be).

This is the prettiest foldable I've ever seen, and I could only wish to have one. Small form factor design when folded, gapless design, and clean aesthetics. I don't really mind the inner screen bezels as it also houses the camera for an uninterruptible display. It also makes the screen look more wide rather than square-ish like Oppo Find N.

I like my bezels and that is a really good looking camera, judging from a review I watched it is good, especially better than my current phone, it looks like the perfect phone for me (that's a foldable)
