Google Pixel Fold 2 hands-on image leaks
Yesterday we heard that the upcoming Google Pixel Fold 2 might skip the Tensor G3 chipset of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro and jump straight to the Tensor G4 in the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro, which probably also means it will only be introduced alongside those devices in October, and not in May like the original Pixel Fold.
Today an image of what is purported to be a Pixel Fold 2 prototype has been leaked by the same source behind yesterday's report, and you can see it below in all its stealthy glory.
It's easy to instantly notice two things that are very different with this model. First, the camera bump has a new shape, one that's very far removed from the original Pixel Fold's visor-like contraption. That's weird since the elongated camera island stretching across most, if not all of the back has come to be a defining feature of the Pixel line.
Next up, the cover screen of the Pixel Fold 2 is clearly longer and narrower than its predecessor's, which has a very wide form factor - so much so, in fact, that when opened it registers as landscape mode for apps, which has caused a lot of problems with those that simply refuse to have one. The Pixel Fold 2 is looking set to rectify that by being at least a tiny bit longer than it is wide when unfolded, so apps will default to their portrait orientation selves.
While we can't see the inner screen, the source of this image says it has a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera in the top right, unlike the OG Pixel Fold which has it in the bezel. The Pixel Fold 2 is allegedly "fairly thin" but still has a very noticeable display crease.
Of course this is just one leaked image so the usual notice applies - please take it with a grain of salt. If the Pixel Fold 2 does indeed only appear on the market in October, there's plenty of time for us to find out more about it until then.

Yuck! Google just stick with the visor design no need to go with the modified square model that everyone seems to use and that has been boring for so long
