Google Pixel Tablet charging and connectivity details revealed

Ro, 05 April 2023

The Google Pixel Tablet was teased last year by Google during the Pixel 7 series unveiling, but we are yet to see its actual debut. The company only confirmed that the device will see broad daylight sometime this year.

Now we have FCC and UL Solutions database listings, revealing some more details. The FCC listing mentions Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and UWB, of which only the latter is actually news. We are yet to see what Google plans on using it for.

The UL Solutions listing, on the other hand, talks about 18W charging speed of the tablet and suggest that there will be a docking station for it. This one takes 30W chargers, although it's unclear if it relays more than 18W to the tablet.

This is in line with earlier speculations that there's a dock that will double as a loudspeaker too, which essentially turns the Pixel Tablet into a smart display.

Seeing these listings confirm that Google will unveil the device pretty soon, most likely during this year's Google I/O developer conference in May.

For something that can be doubled as a smart home display through a dock and run 24/7/365, keeping the charging rate low makes a lot of sense. You don't want to nuke the battery in short time.

I want to see a detachable keyboard option. Since this is meant to be a Pixel Slate replacement, it better has one.
