I wish GSMarena would create a metric for phones with soft buttons called "Effective Screen size" to take into effect the amount of screen space lost by the buttons. I have never owned a phone with soft buttons so would be interested to know if you typically lose 0.2", 0.5", or some other amount of screen real estate by having soft buttons.

I am a dummy. After a minute of googling I found that you lose an average of around 0.36" of screen real estate with soft buttons. In other words, this is comparable to a 5.1" screen, which is too small for me since I am used to true 5.5" screens on my last three phones. And given how large the Pixel XL is, pretty pitiful that it's a 5.1" screen. They should have put hardware buttons on that giant bezel.

Has anybody tried to serve appetizers on the chin of the Pixel XL? After all, for the price and the aesthetics of this device it really should serve more purposes. :)

The funny thing? It's Androids fault (and Microsoft for not having native support for MTP on Windows), as soon as you put it into a card reader it aprox. gets the specified speeds.

What is with android phone manufacturers not wanting to put sd card support on their devices?
I dont expect apple to put one on their phones because they're stupid really, but with android, you should not be limited to a fixed storage. Whats the point of utilizing the freedom android offers when you're bound by STORAGE?

AnonD-567849, 21 Sep 2016This crap of a smartphone is ugly as hell and probably over... moreExpensive you say? So is the latest iphone, and the other top tier android phones. The main problem with the pricing of this phone is that it will hardly depreciate as time progresses, unlike samsung phones which become affordable after 8 months (off contract).
The nexus 6p still sells for roughly the same price at the time it was launched in my country.

You can recover your data without an SD card we do it all the time in the shop. It is very tricky with android though depending on the carrier and the lock.
