Google starts investigating clicking/ticking sound issue with Pixel 2 [Updated]

Himanshu, 25 October 2017

Update: Google seems to have fixed the problem internally. The company is currently preparing a software update that includes the fix. The update will be rolled out in the coming weeks.

Original story follows:

Recently, it came to light that some users of Google's new Pixel 2 smartphones are complaining that their units are making 'clicking and high pitch frequency sounds.' Well, the company has now provided an update on the issue.

According to a Google employee, who is Community Manager at the official Pixel forum, the company has started investigating the problem.

Orrin also noted that the problem - which he says affects only a small number of Pixel 2 users - doesn't affect the performance of the device in any way. As a temporary solution, he suggested turning off NFC.

Sadly, there's currently no information on when the issue will be fixed and rolled out to the affected units.

Maybe they should make the phone themselves now that HTC is kinda in their pocket. How come LG display is so bad on another phone but ok on their own.

Doesn't seem like Google bothered with beta test the hardware before approving it

The phone is gorgeous, so much to like and love the eco system. Glad the tweak is coming. Be just fine.
