Google trolls Apple on its late adoption of RCS in new video ad
The latest ad in the #BestPhonesForever series is now out, and Google is once again trolling Apple. Or rather, to be specific, a Pixel is trolling an iPhone. They are #BestPhonesForever, and Google is using this format to mock Apple's mobile devices in various ways.
This time around, it's about RCS. The messaging standard has finally been adopted by Apple with the release of iOS 18 earlier this week, following years of pressure from Google. So now iPhones and Android devices can finally share high quality images and videos with each other via texts.
This, of course, is mainly relevant in the US where people have stuck with texting as the main form of communication, eschewing WhatsApp, Telegram, and Facebook Messenger for complicated reasons that can be traced back to bundling of texts in phone plans, which happened way earlier in the US than in most other parts of the world.
But anyway, we digress. The video, like all the others in this series, tries very hard to be funny and whether it succeeds probably depends on where you sit on the iOS vs. Android divide. To us, there are multiple layers of cringe here, but some people do enjoy that.

No, I still don't. I still find it a wasteful buy since I can use my phone to listen to it.

Out of curiosity, do you find yourself still using dedicated radios like a boombox or a transistor radio?
