Here's how many Android updates the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R are getting
The OnePlus 13 made its global debut today, and brought along the more affordable OnePlus 13R. Make sure you don't miss our in-depth review of the former and stay tuned for our review of the latter which is coming very soon.
Looking through the specs you may have been wondering what to expect from OnePlus' new duo in terms of software update support. Thankfully, the company has now revealed this information.
Both the OnePlus 13 and the OnePlus 13R will get four major Android updates, so they will end their lives running Android 19. Additionally, both phones will also receive six years of security updates, so on that front you're good until 2031 comes knocking.
This update promise doesn't match what Google and Samsung are doing for their respective flagship devices, but OnePlus explained almost a year ago that according to its data most users tend to upgrade their phones within four years. So, we read between the lines, it wouldn't make financial sense to go beyond that with big upgrades, especially seeing as how they can introduce performance issues.
