Just like with the cmf phone, the only good thing about this phone is that it shows that you can put screws on the back of a phone without it looking ugly

    I think I understand what HMD is trying to do here. Maybe they're approaching this thing the Chinese way, I may be wrong.
    Keep Nokia in the headlines (get that sympathy from people who owned Nokia phones once). Introduce low-end smartphones at first, gather as much fund as possible.
    And BAM! We are in 2028 looking at HMD everywhere (if they execute it well).

Why modular phone built with pogo pin because its not just game controller but more functional based your preference. The functions of the pogo pin include charging, mechanical fixation, internal antenna contacts, battery contacts, data transmission, board-to-board connections, etc. Compared to general connectors, it has a wider range of applications.

Rather than previous modular with swap components, this devices use outfits as complementary cases.

Even though Sony ditched 4K resolution for their flagship, it is still more than enough because most people can't differentiate any phone screen above 300 ppi. It's still within the standard of today's flagship phones.

                      Unisoc and 15w charging speed are okay IF it is for a cheap phone (sub 200 USD, maybe 200 is a bit stretch but hey maybe it excel at something else! We dont know! ). Why? That's the minimum standard of the market. Yeah, maybe some phones have some sacrifices in order to excel or be outstanding in other departments. While other phones play it safe by having everything according to the standard, or we call it balanced. But this HMD phone doesn't. It has nothing outstanding while the rest are below average (for the asking price).

                        Don't wake him up, he's been sleeping since 2008 in his prehistoric cave. Of course he doesn't know what we called "normal", "cheap but not cheapy", "reasonably priced", and "quality".

                        Idk why he is screaming with all of his lungs defending this half assed product.
                        -beast performance at the asking price? Nah
                        -great camera at the asking price? Nah
                        -great jack of all trade master of none / perfectly balanced phone? Nah
                        -multimedia consumption monster with great screen and speaker at the asking price? Nah
                        -ecofriendy device with long support? Nah
                        -inhumanly durable device that can be used in a rough condition? Nah

                        So, what the hecc is he defending at?

                        If this phone had long software update policy, it would be a great competitor against fairphone! But, hmd really said "nah, 2 years is enough! Instead, we give you some modular pins so you can attach it to a gamecontroller even tho it is really underpowered"

                        What a bloody joke! Welp, atleast this phone still has better price to performance ratio compared to their expensive dumb phone lineup!

                          The Fusion seems very interesting and has a lot of potential, but no doubt the chipset and display will have people questioning those decisions.

                          In terms of the display, a) they obviously had surplus parts from the Pulse series (the screen actually has a good contrast ratio for an LCD), but b) I think they chose HD+ resolution for battery reasons: if the pogo pins on the back can output up to 5V then HMD want to limit battery drain in other ways.

                          Hopefully there will be a more powerful version if this device proves its worth and its possible to get partners on board to design more accessories. I really like the concept because I often end up using different phones for different purposes: e.g. daily use, photography, a rugged phone when hiking etc.

Even sony, leader in this field, downgrade their standard.
