Anonymous, 02 Aug 2024Chinahandys.net discovered that pixel size is 0,61 micromet... moreSuomiMobiili have also reported the sensor to be Hynix Hi5022, so I think the Chinahandys source was incorrect as SuomiMobiili are very reliable.

Anonymous, 02 Aug 2024Chinahandys.net discovered that pixel size is 0,61 micromet... moreOthers have said the sensor is the SK Hynix Hi-5022Q same as the Galaxy A05, but likely they are using multiple components as manufacturers often do on budget phones.

A firecracker of a phone, don't buy something like that. Better a Samsung a15 or spend a little more and buy your a25.

Anonymous, 08 Jun 2024the phone is ok for its price, BUT the camera is absolute ... moreJust because this budget phone is new it will suddenly use flagship grade components like camera, etc. Why don't you compare it with budget phones at that time aswell rather than a flagship & I can guarantee you this is atleast a step up from old budget phones.

the phone is ok for its price,
BUT the camera is absolute crap. If you try to zoom into the shot everything is blurred and pixelated. My old OnePlus 6 outperforms that camera

I have the Pulse Pro (Glacier Green) to gift to a relative, so I did some testing after set-up and my main impressions are:
- The build quality is actually really nice for the price, the longevity of the glossy plastic back and camera plate remains to be seen. The frame is plastic but does a very convincing impression of being a composite and feels a little metallic. There is a little creaking with pressure around the USB port, likely because of the user removable back panel.
- Day-to-day performance is very smooth, this is honestly the biggest surprise for me having used a Unisoc T610 powered tablet I thought this would have similar issues. 6GB RAM plus 6GB VRAM must help, plus a very lightweight Android system - there are some bloat apps out of the box, most can be removed except Facebook which can only be disabled.
- HMD have included some features that are not on HMD-produced Nokia devices running Android 14, such as app cloning and freeform windows. There are also more battery protection and health settings.
- The display is good quality for a budget LCD, the contrast and black levels are good. Sadly it's only 720p, no doubt this helps performance.
- The HMD ringtones, alarms and system sounds are pleasant and relaxing. I think they were composed by Henry Daw who is ex-Nokia and now works at Google, so there is some similarity to Pixel Gems tones.
- The cameras are not good, there are lots of modes for a budget device, especially the selfie camera, but images are dull and uniformly soft.
- The battery life seems solid, as you would expect. I've not used extensively on mobile data to test how much impact that has.
I think the Pulse series is absolutely fine for older relatives and less demanding users, with the added benefit of user-repairability and spare parts and guides. Obviously it's not for people who would come to comment on gsmarena and use their phone for more involved tasks.
