rohitmishra, 25 Mar 2025You're right. Their initial phones were good - the num... moreFunny, I had no issues with the USB port on the 1-9 series. That fun started with my second X phone. And it didn't even started while I had it but shortly after I sold it on. The new owner called me stating that it broke off at the inside. Although it might also have been (I suspect) that the user tried to push a Micro USB into the USB-C port...
Same here, I really hope that HMD would become a good, reliable brand. Again having a European brand would not harm (even if all phones are made in China, India...and some in Germany). That would limit a bit the dependencies from China, Korea and the US.
It's kind of sad as in the beginning of the cellphone era we had several European brands. They are all gone.

atichko, 25 Mar 2025While initially I was in love with the design of the phone ... moreYou're right. Their initial phones were good - the number series (1 to 9). We had two of Nokia 6.1 Plus and my parents used them for four years before we exchanged them for newer phones. The only problem we had with both of them was that their USB port got damaged at exactly the one-year mark. Apart from that, all was good.
Later when they stopped the number series and started the C, G, and X series, things started to go downhill. The X series phones were good, alongwith the G60, but other G series models and all C series phones were just bad.
I now have zero trust or hope for their dumb phones. I've used six of them since 2017 and I'm done now. Unless they get rid of that stupid S30+ OS, their dumb phones are not getting useful at all.
Since I'm not into Apple, google, samsung and Chinese brands, HMD is my only option alongwith Sony. Sony isn't available in my country and I managed to get one (xperoa 10 vi) from Germany and I'm enjoying it, but having good HMD phones will be great. While I hope they do good, I'm losing faith now. They've released one decent device, Skyline, and so many crap devices - Crest series, Pulse series, Aura, f*cking Aura², and God knows what else. Their feature phones are not getting any better. I don't understand how making a Barbie version of a phone two years later or a Barca version of a phone one year later is indicative of growth. Imagine what they could have done in all this time.

While initially I was in love with the design of the phone I was sceptic about the rest. When HMD started making Nokia phones again, they were really good, sturdy, stable and reliable. Then it started to degrade, especially when HMD thought it was a good idea to release cheep somewhat crappy phones with much to weak hardware but that's a question of taste or needs. Worse was the software support and certainly also the stability. My first X20 was good, stable and running fine. Downside was the LCD and the very limited launcher but other than that it was OK. I sold that one after 6 months or so to get a bit later a new one, the lower X10 which was still OK-ish but more on that later. Than again an X20 on a discount and boy was that a crappy one. It worked fine or something like that but less good than my first one. The difference? My old one was on the Android version at launch while this one updated to the newer Android version while I was setting it up. The result? An unstable, buggy phone and no support from the useless My Nokia support centre. Same happened with my X10 after updgrading to the same new Android version. It took more than two months before they were finally starting to work in a more or less stable way again. Same shit with my G20 and G50 later on. It worked kind of well (besides crappy chip-sets) and when there was a major upgrade all shit started to hit the fan. That's when I said goodbye Nokia. And when looking at reviews of the Skyline it's the same all over again. Bugs, bugs and even more bugs after a major release. No support worth mentioning. A very bad battery efficiency while, on paper, the chip is normally very power efficient meaning crappy software optimisation. The build is good but that's the same as eating from a very nice empty table. It's empty so your hunger isn't satisfied. It's still a beautiful phone but the user experience isn't beautiful at all. So happy I didn't buy it. I only played with a unit from a friend (who just tossed it in a drawer for the very same reasons, wait of money). It sounds very harsh and I'm sure (or I hope) that other buyers have better or even fantastic experiences and that's good. While I'm very negative on HMD (even on their dumb-phones offerings who are also crappy) I sincerely hope they will gain momentum with more and better mid-rangers and much better budget offerings in the near future (don't care about premium ones).

I just realised this thing is as big as the Galaxy S Ultra. Of all the problems I've faced with this device, it's size and bulk are the worst ones. I've kept aside all my other phones and have been using this full-time for the last two months and my fingers are hurting.
Not that this is a HMD-specific problem, this disease is widespread. HMD, however, could and should have tried to be unique by making this phone smaller, specially when they were using the old N9 as reference. I went from rating it 5 stars on Amazon six months ago when I bought it to rating it 2 stars. I'm considering changing it to 1 star now. The cons are too many and much more substantial compared to the pros. It's a sad thing, but it's true.

Deutz, 19 Mar 2025Because you are always on here defending them and saying ho... moreBecause all of us who used Nokia devices, regardless of the platform or manufacturer have had nothing but positive experiences. Simple as that. I don't think you haven't noticed my previous comments, when you used to change your usernames weekly to bash random phones and defend a bunch of obscure phones from established Chinese brands.
If they're terrible, why should I support this brand in the first place?
Why does my current phone still work seamlessly after almost 8 years? Why don't other flagship phones of the same age work well?
If you come into conclusions that I defend brands because my comments appear biased, I suggest you to have a better understanding of what I comment here.

Minu, 15 Mar 2025Your earlier phones came with older Android versions below ... moreYes it might be because of the Android version on my previous phones. At this point, I just disable and forget these apps. I don't even feel like going with adb. I just find it stupid when companies install these apps, thinking it might make people use it if they don't let us uninstall them. Such childish behaviour.. 🤣
