I turned off animations in developer options menu and this made the dimming fast and noticeable. The screen dims without developer options/animations off, too, but very gradually and very hard to see. Can you help me again and disable animations (3 rows in the developer options menu) and then check again the brigtness (under 100%) from the menu to chrome? If you can't see anything changing this time, too, it means that they solved the bug in Pie.

When I switch from the menu to Chrome the brightness in chrome stay the same.
And of course the brightness was around 50 percent and developers options on.

The auto brightness should be off when testing this and the brigtness under 100%.

they roll the update android 9.0 like a month ago ,a lot of us we go it but because a lot of people's complaints about small bugs they stop rolling the update , they say will fix the small bugs and send it again end of may but is already june and still they holding the update
so nobody knows when you'll get the 9.0.the last update i received was google security of april still waiting for the may security update.
Im on 9.0 and no problems except the cam takes a bit longer to open

I've had it for 2 days and no update available yet. I'm stuck on Oreo/EMUI 8. I'm in Romania and have the European model. What should I do to get the update? Does it come at a certain time after first use? It's pretty urgent, because I want to have Pie/EMUI 9 before the return period expires, I need to know how it works on Pie.
The phone has a bit of darkening on the bottom edge on white and light greys, but at least it doesn't have light bleeding on blacks, which would have been worse (like some Poco F1 have). Also, the clock in the top bar is too small and doesn't change in settings, like on other phones (because it's part of EMUI, I guess)

check in app, open app mesage, permission, and mark all; camera, contacts, phone, etc. Also check in the app, notifications, managemrnt, more settings, -your curent country-. The app mesages should be open by default.Open Phone application, Click on three vertical dots, up right corner,This is where you will see the list of calls and messages that were blocked by your block lists. if nothing help go to the authorized service or your operator

Does anyone have a solution for "when text messaging stops working" on their Honor 8x? I have not been able to send or receive text messages since June 1, 2019. Curious to know if anyone else is having the same problem.

Phantom blue color version the new version of 8X still on Android 8 and emui 8.2 i dont know why maybe cuz its new version ??

I do not know for you, but my Honor 8x received android EMUI 9.0 and 3 more security updates and now we expect EMUI 9.1 which is now beta

I was promised EMUI 9(Android 9) upgrade being released 27 March. Now June 4. Still no upgrade. I have repeatedly chased Honor. "It will take some time." Now advised the Premium handsets are priority. So I have to wait. Not considered urgent to upgrade a normal Mid range handset. Hard luck is the attitude.
No security upgrades since Jan. Told. Its not a problem?
This is poor service. Or non existant.

mohaded, 21 May 2019help me what i choose between : SAMSUNG A50 & HONOR 8X A50 has better display and more versatile camera, the 8x has glass and metal build, pretty even devices BUT huawei may not get android updates if you care. I would go for the A50 myself.

Does anyone have a problem with slow opening camera app?
When I touch camera app icon it immediately opens up a black screen but then everything is black about 4 to 5 seconds, then camera starts... this is not happening always but from time to time, but could be problematic when i want quickly to take a photo of something... phone is on the last update of android pie
