So it does support 5Ghz wifi after all, it was just a rumor started by a person with a bad router or with a salary from another phone manufacturer.

I have Netgear R7000 1900ac router at home and Linksys WRT3200ACM at office this phone cannot connect to both of them while my Old Sony Xperia Z5 Premium connects like a breeze I get very high speeds with it

It's a good smartphone but it not better. It have no Super Amoled Display, No Gorilla Glass Protection, No USB Type C, No Fast Charge, No Blutooth Ver5. It's also looks ugly for Notch & Overall Huawei UI is not good enough like SAMSUNG, SONY, HTC & More...

It could be the router you are using to connect your phone to does not support 5GHz bands.
