Honor Magic V Flip is here with 4” cover screen, SD 8+ Gen 1

Honor is already an established brand in the foldable smartphone market with its Magic V series and today marks a new page with its first clamshell foldable – the Magic V Flip. This is one of the more impressive flip foldables with its key future being the huge 4-inch LTPO OLED cover screen.

The outward-facing panel brings a 1,092 x 1,200px resolution (405 ppi), 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, up to 1,600 nits max brightness, and 2,160 Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. It also makes clever use of its large diagonal by splitting content like apps to 16:9 mode for better scaling and supports a horizontal split for watching videos with a control panel on the bottom half.

You also get numerous Always on Display (AoD) options and the ability to run full-screen apps straight on the cover display. Honor also added some clever continuity features that automatically expand your apps when going from the cover screen to the main display.

Magic V Flip folds completely flat and measures 14.89mm when closed and 7.5mm when unfolded. It uses a proprietary hinge mechanism developed by Honor with lightweight steel foil components and an aluminum frame.

The device is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage though the entry-level version features 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Honor also somehow managed to fit a 0.25mm ultra-thin liquid-cooled VC plate covering a 2,300mm heat dissipation area.
