The first tablet is the MagicPad 2, with 12.3” OLED screen and Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. The second is a Pad 9 Pro, a Dimensity 8100-powered tablet for remote learning.

The MagicPad 2 moves to an OLED panel, an improvement over the LCD on its predecessor, the MagicPad 13. The 10-bit panel supports up to 144 Hz refresh rate, a resolution of 3,000 x 1,920 pixels (that's 290 ppi) and 1,600 nits peak brightness.

Honor revealed that the PWM dimming is 4,320 Hz, and the panel has been certified by TUV Rheinland to protect the eye from flickering and blue light.

This tablet is just 5.8 mm thin and has a smaller footprint than the first MagicPad, but Honor kept the 10,050 mAh battery with support for 66W wired charging. The company also kept the 13 MP main camera and the 9 MP front-facing shooter.

The MagicPad 2 comes with Android 14-based MagicOS 8.0 out of the box, and it has many AI features powered by the Qualcomm chipset. Multitasking gains some extra features and you get recognition for handwritten formulas, handwriting, geometric figures, and object identification.

The tablet has Bluetooth 5.3, WiFi 6, and support for the latest stylus, Magic Pen 3. It has eight speakers and is even certified by IMAX Enhanced audio and video. There is no cellular connectivity version, though.

Honor MagicPad 2 comes in White, Black, and Cyan. Memory options are 8/256 GB, 12/256 GB, 16/512 GB, and a mighty 16 GB + 1 TB version. Prices start from CNY2,899 ($400/€367) and can go up to CNY4,199 ($580/€530).

The tablet is available for pre-order at the Honor China online store. Sales will begin in exactly seven days – on July 19.

Honor Pad 9 Pro

The Honor Pad series is for people of all ages who are looking for a budget-oriented solution to help them learn and study on the go.

The Pad 9 Pro builds upon the Pad 9 with a brighter and faster screen. It still is a 12.1” LCD but now has 144 Hz refresh rate and a 2.5K resolution, which is 2,560 x 1,600 pixels.

Interestingly enough, Honor offers the Pad 9 Pro with two different displays - one is the regular LCD, and the other has a coating on top that protects against blue light and flicker.

Compared with its 12.1” predecessor, the Pad 9 Pro shrunk in size, which means the bezels got thinner. More importantly, the battery capacity grew nearly 20% to 10,050 mAh.

The Mediatek chipset is coupled with 8 or 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. The tablet's coming with Magic OS 8.0.

Honor Pad 9 Pro supports the new Honor Magic Pen 3 stylus and it gets an optional keyboard accessory.

The Honor Pad 9 Pro is already available for purchase. It comes in Gray or Blue and prices start at CNY2,199 ($300/€280); however, the variant with the protective screen is CNY200 ($27/€25) extra. The company brought the last two Pad tablets to the international scene, and we hope this one will also sell globally.

just not true. a good IPS has sharper pixel resolution than OLED. proof of this is the comparison between regular high quality IPS Surface Pro 11 vs new OLED version. it also has better color reproduction and accuracy for creative work.
