Ben10, 06 Dec 2016I downloaded the app after I read your post but my contacts... moreyou need to give the app accessright to the contacts - like almost always, honor/huawei restricts rights to apps - check all google-apps for the rights - usually they are not permitted initially to access contacts sms etc...

Omid46, 30 Nov 2016All knowledgeable. As the specifications shows,NFC,IR,DLNA,U... moreThe Honor Note 8 accepts two sim cards at once. However you have the option of using the second sim card slot for a memory card to increase the phone memory. if you choose this option, you can only use one sim card and one memory card at the same time thereby losing the dual sim capability. Hope this helps.

This is an excellent phone for the price. I owned the Huawei P8 Max before I upgraded to the Honor Note 8 and I've absolutely no regrets. I bought mine from VopMart along with the original Huawei Dot Matrix case and the Luxurios leather case. Both are great cases. The phone does come supplied with a clear cover though but it's not a flip case and offers no protection to the beautiful large screen (and you definitely want to protect that screen).
I also like the slightly reduced size of 6.6 inches over the P8 Max which was 6.8 inches. I've had no signal issues and the phone worked great right out of the box.
The battery lasts a complete day with full use including videos, music and of course calls. I don't use the supplied charger because it doesn't fit into a standard wall socket in my country but the phone charges fast enough.
The only problem I have with this phone is that it doesn't sync my contacts to google which is such a shame. I've tried everything and searched all the available web sites but I can't find a solution so you need to bear that in mind.

All knowledgeable. As the specifications shows,NFC,IR,DLNA,USB version 3.1 is absent, but the rest are have a house in the uppermost class'!!!I still don't understand 32,64,128 inside memory being hybrid, and having a second SIM card slot being used as an external memory slot too!!!?Here,I need someone,s help to justify them logically !!!?Of course,Huawei P9 plus is the best example of showing sincerity in deeds! Thanks for scientific logical answers,in advance,....Omid87,Omid12Omitted,Omid12Omidvar,sam,....And gsmArena review,....

AnonD-594754, 29 Nov 2016Actually, they are making a push into the US with the Mate ... moreThat's what was said about Honor Note 8 when it was release back in August (or something like that)... I just think Note 8 has better value compared to Mate 9; Honor series is not supposed to be the premium anyways, I get that; but there are plenty of high end competitors in the US, so break into US market with Honor brand seems to be a more reasonable thing to do.
To be honest, I think it was somewhat silly for Huawei not to release its new phone lineup in the US during the Thanksgiving shopping season.

AnonD-609803, 27 Nov 2016I'm in the same situation. Other people have this phone act... moreMine came sim unlocked. I put a T-Mobile sim card in and I was good to go. If it doesn't work, you may want to look into returning it and purchasing it from somewhere else. I purchased mine from vopmart and I've read Aliexpress for others. I haven't seen much in the way of sim card issues elsewhere.

AnonD-613072, 28 Nov 2016Im not sure about the fast charging - but I think my phone ... moreCertainly does have fast charging, very quick using the supplied charger and cable, also just installed new firmware update (official 247 MB) which appeared,in the updater menu, still very pleased with this phone, BTW the original note 8 Dot Matrix case is superb, the Matrix reminders through the case are really cool.

Mj23, 28 Nov 2016No fast charging?Im not sure about the fast charging - but I think my phone charges quite quickly using a usb c fast charger (I am not using the included plug). btw ordered a couple cases to try out - will take a bit but looking forward to them since this phone is Really big and delicate. Trying out the official dot matrix one (as suggested). So far Really glad I got this phone; its about the size of a small tablet so great for downtime and reading stuff a bit awkward talking on the phone thou (my arm actually got tired from holding it the first few times).

Just received mine from amazon.fr, 64GB, gold version, 450€. I can confirm that the phone is working fine (4G) in France and Switzerland. As an example, my best speed test was 16ms ping, 89Mb/s DL and 20Mb/s in UL around the alps, not even in the biggest Swiss cities.
The screen is absolutely amazing. I previously had several samsung galaxy notes flagships and I can assure this screen is continuation of what samsung is building in terms of screen quality (this screen is built by samsung).
The battery for such a big phone is pretty impressive (at least one day). The fingerprint is really fast as reported on the internet. I had already the play store installed, but if not, it is possible to install it through Huawei app store.
Up to now, no major issue observed.
