A warning to potential purchases! If you buy one of these, there is a chance it may have a version of Android for China installed. You can still change language to English but you won't be able to install google apps and market, etc. If you try and change the system to another version, it will fail to upgrade. No solution yet so the phone will be fairly limited unless you are Chinese.

I have used the Huawei U8860 for 2 months

Prior to that on Iphone 4.I opted for Huawei because of poor reception of iphone inside my office, otherwise i m very satisfied with iphone especially the speed, clarity n screen resolution,no hanging at all, software opening n closing very smooth, battery reasonably good.

Huawei U8860 cost about 50% of what i paid for the iphone 4(no iphone 4S when i buy iphone)
I can tell you, it is worth every cent you spent on it just as you would spend on an iphone and it is 50% only.
I found that it is even better as reception very good, never have miss call anymore where else it is daily for iphone.it is compact and light, very clear jusat as iphone, i found that maybe even bit faster

I read on this site that there r those wary of China phone.Claiming that they may become a victim of pilferage by certain software incorporated into the China made phone.

Come on dont be ridiculous, who r u thatt China need your personal information for such a big company and country ?

I will say get it if you do not have any handphone yet and or intend to buy one soon.
I have used handphone for about 14 years.Used morethan 10 company's handphone, but it is the best experience otherthan Nokia, Blackberry and Iphone

Nokia seems declining due to poor software association now after they have abandoned Symbian.Symbian is nice but no software now
Blackberry phone is good but again no software at all
Iphone is good but expensive and the restriction on Itune, no SD card is a hassle though

So I will recommend Huawei U8860 for its price, together with a 8 MP camera,

How does the LG Optimus 2x compare to this unit? It seems like, spec-wise the LG is better, despite being a year older.

WOuld like to hear your opinions. Thank you.

The Huawei Ideos X5 Pro is not much of an upgrade from the old phone and a minor speed bump doesn’t seem like much. However, it’s now a good alternative to the Sony Ericson Live with Walkman since the features are pretty much the same but with the Huawei, you do get a bigger and higher resolution screen, which is a big bonus of the Live with Walkman.

Here are some of the highlights of the phone:
                    Android 2.3 Gingerbread
                    1GHz Scorpion processor
                    3.8-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 800
5MP camera with AF, LED flash and 720p HD video recording
                    1.5GB Internal memory
                    512 MB RAM
                    Wi-Fi, DLNA, micro-USB 2.0
                    1500 mAh battery

The Huawei Honour, on the other hand sits between the HTC One V and the Samsung Galaxy S Plus, but offers better features than both. Compared to the HTC One V, it has a larger 4-inch screen with a higher resolution and a faster 1.4GHz processor. You also get a better 8MP camera and unlike the Galaxy S Plus, there’s an LED flash present as well. It also has a larger capacity battery, compared to both of them at 1930mAh. It has all the makings of a very good droid in that price range, but seeing a phone on paper and in the real world are two very different things. However, given Huawei’s track record, they have been known for some good handsets, so it should be good.

Here are some of the highlights of the phone:
Android 2.3 Gingerbread (upgradable to 4.0)
                    1.4GHz Scorpion processor
                    4-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 854
8MP camera with AF, LED flash and 720p HD video recording
                    1GB Internal memory
                    512 MB RAM
                    Wi-Fi, DLNA, micro-USB 2.0
                    1930 mAh battery

It’s not the Ascend D that we were hoping for, but new droids are always welcome. Huawei’s Honour U8860 and the Ideos X5 Pro are now available in India on online stores, like Flipkart. The Honour retails for Rs.19,990 and the Ideos X5 Pro sits at Rs.13,800. The Huawei Ideos X5 Pro is the replacement to the Ideos X5, which now features a faster 1GHz processor and comes pre-installed with Gingerbread. The Honour, on the other hand is a higher-end Android and is all set to compete with the Sony Ericsson Neo V, HTC One V and Samsung Galaxy S Plus.

Well, after my I9000 was stolen i needed good Android based phone, so i ordered Honor via ebay. At first i was skeptic about it but when i got it (10 days ago) i was like "WOW" this is great phone. For that price (~250€) u can't get better new phone. My recommendation!

Anonymous, 04 Apr 2012Dude today FBI is more apprehensive of chinese cyber thiefs... moreDude, seems like u r really afraid of China and all Chinese products (including all peoples of China!!!). In this kind of situation, I can advise you don't use any phone / tabs / any such gadjets.. Because by any means of phone / sms / e-mail they can attack on u or on US... Eh?? he he he.. :D :D :D.
Dude, brand names like Huawei will never do those bad things(what of u r fearing) to put down their branding. Though its a China originated company, yet it is trying to enter the Nokia/ Samsung/LG smartpone market with reliable & valued product with low pricing compared to the rivals. Now, one thing is sure, electronic items at any point may get damaged but that does not mean those are all cheapest parts/portions that was used to make the phone.
Hope you got my point. First use this phone (am planning to buy next week :D ) and then comment that "Chinese are spreading viruses againt US thru chinese branded phones" and so rubbish!!!
