Another one without microSD expansion support?! Don't care if this is claimed to have a "DSLR-like" camera. Don't think the Helio G88 has enough processing power to enable that 😂

It's embarrassing. They should be ashamed for promoting such a poorly specced overpriced device - and promoted solely on it's looks & iphone like design.
To think, the Kirin 810 from 2019 (honor 9x pro), and the Kirin 820 (honor x10 - 2020) were hitting antutu benchmark scores of 300k to 440k back then, to honor now offering a g88 chip in 2023 that barely gets 200k on antutu is outright shameful and embarrassing.
Why not use the Helio G99? The Dimensity 810? Heck, even the dimensity 700? All way way way better than a g88.
I hope honor improve - though by the looks of it.. I doubt it.

680 is more efficient because of 4 cortex a73
Also Sd 680 is 6nm while G88 is 12nm that's why G88 is a power hungry processor because of 12nm fabrication with a power hungry architecture

Why would anyone buy this when you can get cheaper more powerful phones like moto g62, oppo a77 5g, moto g53, poco m4 pro 5g & so on

Yes the G88 is vastly underpowered. Honor are ripping people off with the price of the x8a in the UK.

I got this last week & It look nice is comfortable.
But performance is very v bad. Laggy & network is slow & sound is so low & bad
My antutu result was 181429 & geekbench 1201 multi.
I thot helio g88 was better than sd680 i was wrong
I want 2 return as this won't last me 18 month

Also, Honor have confirmed this uses eMMC storage, and NOT ufs.
This is even more disappointing.

I really wish they opted for a better processor though. The G88 is such a poor performer in 2023, even for a budget device.
Especially when other brands are offering the D810, D700, even the Helio G99 at around similar price points - and these chips are a lot more powerful/efficient compared to the G88.
They've made a bad decision on this device. It's not even cheap. In the UK, it's retailed for £219.99.

Just seen a benchmark vid on YT.
Antutu score was 196k. This is only a fraction better than the infamous & dated Kirin 710.
Yet they are selling the x8a for £220 in the UK. Are honor stupid or crazy?
They should have included a Dimensity 810 or at the very least, a Dimensity 700. Going for the G88 is a bad move.
Pity, as the design seems quite nice.

I.. like it..? Not the design, but the specs seem interesting. Price is definitely okay.
