raw, 21 Dec 2010on multitasking.I have the phone and must say that the phone more than I expected. It is missing the key apps but it is still early. I have worked with the iPhone 4 & MyTouch 4G. They in my opinion are the best of its class and this is a few steps behind. The screen is not as good but as speed goes it is up there or better. I love the HD video but the camera is not that good. The speaker too is not loud but it is ok.

actually, the battery performs with regular (semi-heavy & mostly data) use in both optimal & negligible service conditions just shy of where the iphone 3G lands.

You saying that turn those functionality off? Then why are you buying the so-called 'smartphone' then? Why not you just buy a cheap 3310 Nokia ( which in my country was one of the epic phone ever + undeniable battery life ) rather than this WP7 phone? True that not much smartphone have an awesome battery life, cause the function in the phone itself draining the phone battery. But still, the range of smartphone is WIDE which in same time competition between these manufacture increase. Thus this will lead then in making smartphone that satisfying the user in order to win the market of smartphone. Battery life is one of the important part of phone itself and why not they make a nice phone with an awesome battery camera. One of the manufacture that well know for its awesome battery life, AFAIK, is Nokia. I'm not a Nokia fag or what, in fact I, myself using an iPhone which I know the battery kinda sucks. But hey what else I could know a nice phone from? Right? So IDK bout N81 cause I don't have time to actually test it. But I know it'll last longer than my iPhone.

Just my two cent. : )

I returned the first Surround I bought at Telus due to losuy battery life. The second one was not much better. Then I learned of the sync issue with outlook and the design flaw with the camera button. The Camera button does not lock when you lock the phone. When I slid the phone into the carry case it would turn on the camera! I switched over to a verticle carrying case but then I could not plug in the headphones. Really, very stupid issues I was hugly disappointed. The upside for me was I was able to return it. Good riddance.

A 1230 mAh battery? what was HTC thinking?!! It's a high end multimedia device not a polyphonic phone!!
