I have been using HTC ChaCha from last 2 months. Initially I was really shocked about battery performance. Nevertheless, after updatation to 2.3.5 Gingerbread its performance exceptionally increased. Now Full Charge giving 2 days backup which is good compare to 6 Hrs (initially). The keyboard is pretty smart compare to any other qwerty phones howevery internal memory is a big question. In specification, it has been shown as 512 mb though only 128 mb memory appear on phone and out of which 30 mb free for installtion.

Can any body help me out!

                                  hi all
                                  i purchased HTC Chacha recently.
android 2.3.5 update is available to download.
problem is while downloading it shows no enough memory.
my internal storage shows now 136mb used & 14mb free.
                                  so total 150mb.
but in specs 512mb internal storage.
                                  wat is the problem?
can anybody give me the solution?

                                  Thanks

Hi for those encountering battery problem, update your phone from 2.3.4 to 2.3.5 i have updated mine and the battery capacity improved a bit now it last 2 days with 1 charge, moderate usage like about 100txt, 2hrs music with headset, no internet. Nevertheless updating it improves battery life. The only downside of getting the new gingerbread version is that your x9 dictionary will be activated and there is no way to revert it. Been using chacha for 6 mos now

83, 14 Feb 2012crap bettry it got everything but usless if no power have t... moreNice device. But Battery drain is a real issue with smartphones, which is a pain. Here is a little info that should help you...

Any weak signal will cause battery loss. When a phone/tablet detects a weak signal, it will send more power to the radio to boost its ability to connect to that signal (I think).

Similarly any drop from 4G->3G will cause the phone/tablet to look for a 4G connection, also causing battery drain for sure. The same is true for WiFi -- if the connection gets dropped, the phone/tablet will work a little harder to find it.

Best bet is to use something like Tasker and/or some widgets to really control when any battery draining activity is taking place.

                                        Battery draining activities include:

                                        -The screen being on
                                        -3G/4G
                                        -WiFi
                                        -Bluetooth
                                        -Background data sync
-Any large data transfer or frequent screen redrawing (eg the surfing the web with the browser)
-Some games are also a cause of significant power loss

To check how much an app is using the battery:

(from your phone's home screen) Menu > Settings > About Phone > Battery use

Usually the apps at the top should be something like:

                                        - Display/Screen
                                        - Cell Standby
                                        - WiFi
                                        - Phone idle

You might like to try Juice Defender - I don't use it personally, but know plenty that do... there are free and paid versions available on the market - perhaps try the free version to see if this helps you and then, if it does, upgrade to one of the paid versions!

Hope that this is of some help.
